Well guys I posted before that I had bought a custom rear fender from Maurice at MBL Innovations. http://www.mblinnovations.com/store/Dir-dirbrowse-10.htm I then had Maurice ship the fender to Paul's Chrome in Pennsylvania. (www.paulschrome.com) Paul's Chrome has finished it and they shipped it to me in Louisiana. We put it on today and let me tell you it is a beauty. First let me say a big THANK YOU to Maurice! A first class gentleman and true Spyder friend. I hope to meet you one day. Paul's Chrome too is first class. Thanks to Dawn and Jim and Bill. You guys were great and your work is outstanding. The fender that comes stock cannot be chromed because of the type of plastic BRP uses but Maurice really makes a nice fender using Carbon Fiber. The folks at Paul's Chrome were really impressed with the fender and its construction and were excited to take on the project. So with 3 States involved and shipping and communications back and forth, the end result was well worth it. In my opinion it really sets off my Spyder. For those who don't like chrome it wont do much for you but if you are like me and you do, I wish you could see this in person as my pictures don't even begin to do it justice. It has been raining here but first chance I get I will take some better pics.

I need to add this as this was a learning process. I scoured the internet for a reputable company who would chrome plastic or fiberglass. There were guys right here in Baton Rouge who chrome but when I told them what I wanted they looked at me or talked to me like I was crazy. When I called Paul's Chrome they were up to the challenge and were confident they could do it. Their process is not just some dip in chrome. It goes thru a series of metals and the finished product is rock solid chrome. The first fender was chromed and I waited nearly 6 weeks for it. When I got it it had curled a bit from the chroming process. A new fender would be needed with a spacer to keep its shape. A call to Maurice and he was extremely helpful. He devised a spacer that attached to the fender so it would keep the shape. That fender was sent to Paul's Chrome and it worked like a charm. Long story short is if any of you guys are considering getting the fender let Maurice know so he can put the spacer on it else you will be like me buying two fenders. Let my mistake be the lesson. Also just in case any are wondering, no the stock fender cannot be chromed. They type plastic it is made from moves and expands so the chrome would not hold.

i just talked to both vendors for this total cost...900.00 ouch but that does look awesome also if you have the rear flag mount it won't work with this design, maurice told me he's working on another one like this and possibly getting a cheaper model done right where hes at in tennessee wont be show quality chrome but chrome none the less like the chrome pcs on the front of the rts is what he was refering too type..

Total cost with shipping will run between $900 to $1000. Mine was higher as I had to buy two fenders. It it totally worth it. Pics dont do it justice. LED lights and other add ons that we love to dress our bikes up with can cost a few dollars but this chrome fender takes the Spyder to a whole "nutha level". To me there is no graphic or light that can do what this fender does. Of course that is just my opinion but it keeps the bike in a very high class mode and gives it a whole different look.

I know other guys have this fender. Perhaps they can comment on that but I personally don't think it will be an issue but I am just a newbie. But again just from a pure "looks" standpoint this is the "wow factor". I am just very happy with the finished product.

Took the RT out for a ride today. It has been raining here for the last 4 to 5 days so the roads have a little water and dirt on them so I figured the sun was out and it would be a good time to test the new fender out. I am proud to say we felt nothing nor do we see any residue on the back from the shorter tail on the fender. Stopped and met up with a fellow Spyder owner and he was in just total awe of the chrome fender. I have to say that I felt like I was riding on a brand new Spyder with the chrome fender. Gosh I love that new ride feel:)

I have ridden all over the country for 2 years trying out this fender and I find it has less back draft and stuff flinging up than with the stock fender which had kind of a wind tunnel affect. I haven't kicked up anything on the riders behind me. I love it.

No cost to install. You can do it yourself. Not hard at all. Maurice provides you with detailed instructions for the installation. I love it and it really sets your Spyder apart from others. It gave me a whole new feeling when I get on it to ride.

Wanted to post some pics of my latest Chrome additions. I realize this has probably been done by others but just wanted to post the pics as I am very pleased with the outcome. The flex chrome is 1/4 in wide and was purchased from Pepboys. Where I placed the chrome on the bike; I have to be honest it looks like it came and probably should have come that way from the factory. I am not just going to put chrome on my Spyder to just put it but these recent additions just were begging to be filled in with the Bling!

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8364/8414721963_26beb8de0a.jpg
I placed this on both side panels.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8190/8415821054_9b6034dfd6.jpg

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8092/8415815888_c49e4efa27.jpg
This changed the whole look. Was way to plain before. I debated putting the
LED lights and am glad I went with the chrome. The Lava Brown to me is different
than a lot of colors and to me the chrome insert looks better. Again just me.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8502/8414723509_65112a4523.jpg

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8192/8414724407_10fb032bcc.jpg
I was really pleased with the outcome of placing the trim under the windshield.
It is subtle and lookers know something is different but don't really know until
it is pointed out.

Again I know it may not be everyone's cup of tea but I have to be honest that the placement of the chrome in these few places look factory done all the way and make a statement in a subtle manner.

Just got these for both sides from Kewl Metal. Here is a picture of the radiator side. To me it looks a lot better than an empty hole. Plus the honey comb design matches the other vents. Got some other chrome additions that I will be posting pics of plus should I have my Ultimate Seat in about a week. I cannot wait to get it. I think the color design will go well with the Lava Bronze Limited. Also I will be posting some pics of some new toys from TricLED and I have to send a shout out to Reggie. Just a super guy!

As many know my Spyder is not trimmed with a lot of LEDs or decals. Of course chrome is another answer:D Reggie at Tricled.com did a wonderful job of getting this LED toy to me. The video was shot during the day to show just how nice the LED lights are. Many videos I notice are shot in the dark. The video also shows some of the different options the lights have. There are other breathe options the lights have that I didn't show or how the Night Rider lights can slow and speed up and down. Hope you enjoy the viewing.

I have a guy that works for me who installed it. He loves LED lights and has done some nice work with lights for displaying some of my collectibles. I would say you would have to have a little know how to do it. I am going to get him to do a video that sort of details what he did. He hid the power supply and everything nicely. I am very picky so he knows he has to do it where it doesnt look like a modification even though it is. I don't think Reggie advertises the Knight Rider strip but he can get it. It has some really cool features like different movements as well as speeds. All controlled by a remote. But I would have to say to me yes it is hard to install because I have no earthly idea how to run the wires. However if you have that kind of know how then you may say no it is not hard to install. I can tell you though as experienced as my guy was we did make a call or two to Reggie and he was super helpful. Hope this helps.

I tried to capture the essence of the distressed saddle ostrich which is a rich camel color contrasted by a distressed chocolate ostrich. I really love it as it is a departure from the orange tone Limited seat that came with the RT. Just as so many of you have said in the past......my butt felt the difference right away. The seat is beautiful. Des has outdone himself at Ultimate on this one it is nice that he lets you add some personal touches.

Looking sharp! You have really added some classy stuff that all flows really nice. Love the Ultimate Seat, boy does it look sharp! Been a fan for years of Ultimate Seats because of the lower back support and great customer service. Hope to see this in person at Spyderfest.

WOW!, that seat is the best looking seat I've ever seen.

What did you order, hate to be a copy cat but that is just too nice not to copy.

eighth inch crome provided a nice subtle touch to the dash.

Sting,
What type of problems did you encounter while installing the chrome rear fender?, Placing an order tomorrow and wondering if I could install it myself, thanks for any and all info.

Curious were is Sting? He was doing, I thought, a rear chrome wheel and sprocket. Has he disappeared?
