I don't know if this one has been posted before. But my search didn't show any. I've seen some post about making modification to have access to front trunk compartment without turning the engine off. Accidentally, one day, I decided to push down the key and turned to have the trunk compartment opened. And it did. My engine didn't turn off.

Just FYI to Spyder's owners. Forgive me if this was posted before.

I think that they've alwyas had this capability.
My 2010 won't open the Frunk with the electronic switch unless the engine is running, but i believe that subsequent models have addressed that shortcoming...

My 2011 RSS has always done that. you can rotate the key while it's running to open the trunk or the other direction to lift the seat as well.

My 2012 RT Frunk will open with the electronic switch as long as the key is turned on, the engine does not have to be open. Time to upgrade!!

Someobdy told me that it's possible to "soup up" the 2010s wiring so that it'll work that way too!
But I'm just happy to keep a spare key with me so that I can use it to pry the thing open when things go wrong! :joke: :roflblack:

On my 2012 RT the switch can be off and the trunk will still open if the lights have not turned off yet.

I just got mad yesterday because I had to turn it off to open the trunk. Thanks for the info. I will try it out

and it has a spring in the latch so the trunk lid pops up to hold it open. Mine is a 2011 RS-S Spyder and it's all documented in my owners manual.

 I wasn't aware of the change in the manual. The older ones didn't mention it, although the unlatch feature has always been there. Many of us rigged trunk opening spring on the GS, so BRP adapted them as OEM. They pay close attention, and make lots of little refinements along the way that people seem to take for granted.

Mine opens any time by just pushing down on it. To lock it I have to turn the wheels push key down and lock the trunk and wheels both.:spyder2:

I'm almost afraid to ask... :opps:
Could you give us some details on just how this update to the 2010s is accomplished?
