I have, what I thought was an RS, but, looking at people's descriptions of their Spyders, I'm not so sure. I'm thinking it's a GS. How do I tell? :dontknow: I bought it used and the salesman referred to it as RS. Not to sure if he even knew himself.

the real " People-in-the-Know" will be here in a little to state the truth of the matter.
I believe when it first came out (mine was) a GS, then when the RT came out, the GS became a RS. Do not know the mechincal differences

2008 and 2009 are GS. There was nothing else. In 2010 the RT was introduced and the GS was rebadged RS.

Thank you. I'm not sure if it changed with the 09's or the 10's. I'm sure someone will know the answer. In the mean time, Max's identification is in limbo. :gaah:

I thought I was pretty clear. The RS badge was introduced for the 2010 model year. Since yours is a 2009 it must be a GS because there is no such thing as a 2009 RS. That said there really is no significant difference between the GS and a RS then the name. So it is just a technicality and if you call yours a RS everyone will know what you mean. Even on the BRP website some links refer the 2008 and 2009 models as RS.

My 09 is Rs. Well, that's what my registration and title says anyway.

This is true however I was looking at the title for my 2008 premier edition and under body type it is listed as RS ! Who knew? Back then it was simply a Spyder as if anything about these machines is simple. :doorag:

That's true, they were just Can-am Sypder Roadster. Have you looked at the front cover of your owners manual?

Does it really matter GS/RS as long as it is running and your riding? have fun with your roadster and dont sweat the small stuff.:banghead:

My 2012 RT says Rs on the registration. I thought the dealership made a mistake, but was told that the Rs was how the DMV identifies motorcycles.

I have to agree. GS or RS... when the parking guy tried to give me a ticket he thanked me for showing up in time to stop him because his little digital ticket writer had no such vehicle on its list so he didn't know what to do.

I have a 2009 GS SE5. I know this because I contacted BRP with my vin and model number and they said it was a GS. As to what to call it I call it WebRyder.;)

My registration says, Can Am Mtrcycle, so I suppose that's what's on the title too. I'll have to check my book to see what it says. But........I'll ride it no matter what it's called. :ohyea: Thanks for all the responses. :)
