I got my prototype mirror extensions in today. They work great. A huge improvement in visibility. Of course the production versions will be black!! These are raw aluminum. These install without unhooking the wires. Installation takes a few minutes per side.

:agree: it's a shame there's no way to make them slide in and out like on my F350.... now that would be sweet..... so we'd still be able to use the outside/inside storage covers that slip over the stock mirrors.

Looks sweet though.... a little black powdercoat and you're all set!

Believe it or not but over here in Belgium we have a helmet with rear view mirror installed.
You look up and see the traffic behind, while turning your head you can overview all.
So you don't need mirrors anymore on any bike. Not cheap but very effectiv!

I was looking at those at the Indy show maybe 4 years ago. I have yet to see anyone use them here. I like the idea but I really like my flip helmet and I'm not willing to give that up. I think these extensions are going to be a must have accessory for me because the mirrors are pretty much useless the way they are now.

a solution could be an adhesive bigger mirror to put on the original.

Very interesting.

How long are they? Do they pivot to move out of the way if needed? (like a side view mirror on many cars)

Thanks

They are just an extension of the stock arms. Much cheaper and less work than making a whole new arm. :doorag:

I have looked at these a few times. Some write-ups say they are heavy and I've got a bit of neck issue. Don't want any unnecessary weight on it.

Some have mentioned that my brain seems to be unnecessary and the rest is ugly so I guess there are other options. :joke:

Matt....Lamont told me what you said about my comment (Red Extensions). So now my feelings are hurt. Don't know if I'll even be able to climb on the Spyder to go to Daytona.

I thought you guys in Prescott were the Kinder-Gentler types. :'(

Well if you won't be riding your Spyder any longer, can I come by and pick it up? My wife and I both like to ride the spyder and I am one short! ::) ::)

Before you were just unkind, but this is outright CRUEL! Funny, all of my friends treat me the same way. ;D You would think I'd get used to it by now.

Even in my tremendous state of grief I am still riding the Spyder. Did 209, Hellbender, Dragon and Parkway today with this other gaudy yellow Spyder guy. A good bit more then 200 miles. I think I even managed to smile once. :joke:

Lamont told me that it was a bad idea to angle the muffler more....bad mojo or something he was saying. But have you noticed his latest muffler mod? After I get my RED mirror extenders Lamont will be powercoating his yellow, me thinks!

Lamonster, since you have the most experience with the Spyder, do you feel that the mirror extension is a necessity?

For me they are. I had the same problem with my 109 and extending the mirrors makes all the difference in the world. Before I had to move around on the bike to see out of them but with the mirrors extended I can move my eyes instead of my body to see.

Thanks, Matt.

I ordered mine this morning (thanks for being open on the holiday!) in the hope I can have them before my Spyder gets delivered to the dealer...Then I can install them in his parking lot and be able to s e e all the way home.
