I found this shocking.

My only thought:How have I lived so long without being involved in an accident?

That video clip convinced me I'll never ride a Scooter,
I'll stick to riding Motorcycles and Trikes.

Some of those crashes reminded me of when I was in my late teens, and rode my older brothers Honda 400 (with my left foot in a cast too). I passed another bike making a left turn onto the street I was on, and when I went to make a right turn that the next intersection I felt the left side of his handle bar hit my right rib. We were fortunate that both of us kept control, not go down, or get hurt.

Very scarry to watch. There are some real "dumb" drivers involved in those crashes. Almost looks like a pinball game with scooters and cars.

I travel extensively to a lot of third world countries and what you see in the video is accurate. While traveling as a passenger in a car in those locations I just close my eyes because I can't watch.

I would say in a lot of cases it is because we are on 3 wheels and we live in countries where you have to be somewhat knowledgeable to drive a motorcycle!:dontknow:

One the of the reasons I never liked scooters...tires too small. Can you image hitting a deep pot hole with a scooter? Yikes!

Question: Do you think that a lot of the sliding and skidding shots are due to road surface conditions, or are scooters just that compromised from a standpoint of traction? :yikes:

I have yet to slide while riding my scooter, so would think it is road conditions. Of course I ride slow in turns/curves.

I didn't mention if anybody thought that all of it might be due to the lack of common sense on the part of all of those organ donors in training!

Having spent many years in some of those countries, as well as others, none of that surprised me.

It's not that scooters are inherently more unstable, it's people who don't know how to ride them and cage drivers who pay no attention to traffic laws.

Welcome to the third world.

The problem with the scooters here is that the drivers don't need a license or have the scooters registered. That's why we call them 'liquor sickles' because so many of them lost their license for DUI/DWI, but they can still ride a scooter. Makes no sense. :hun::banghead:

That was third world? I would have bet most of it was filmed in downtown Washington D.C. :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Either way gave me the creeps watching it. Glad my ride for the week is over.

Being a lambretta and Vespa fan I've ridden a lot of scooters, especially in my teens in England. They're as safe as any motorbike it all down to the riders and other drivers. Most of these accidents are people going to fast for the situation or just plain stupidity.

Scary to watch.
