Here are a couple of Pics of a new ST a women was riding, when we stopped at a coffee shop last week-end. She said she was testing it for a dealer! Let us all sit on it and check it out good. I think it suits me no? Or so I tell my wife!!

Yes you are right Lamont it was an ST-S. She was on no special ride, just out with 3 other Spyders for a Sunday drive. She was very willing to let us check it out, sit on it etc. So I am sure it was somehow dealer related!

From the looks on your face when you were test sitting the ST--I would say there could possibly be an ST in your future.

Taking a closer look at the rear fender supports in the picture below on the new ST, it looks like BRP added some extra reinforcement braces on the lower side of the supports. I wonder if this is a solution to the cracking supports that some of the RS/GS owners have had. I had my fender supports replaced once under warranty on my 2008 spyder, and they are cracked again in just over a year. I must say, I do like the looks of the new ST.

I´m shure it will win the price for the "most custom paintered modell" of the world .. :clap:55719 the new fender - made for me ??

Thanks for posting

Nice idea from a dealers point of view, spark some interest, wonder if I can persuade my local dealer to let me take one for an early ride. ;)

Looks nice, I know you didn't ride it but did it feel stiffer/different just sitting on it than your Elkas?

I too had the opportunity to view an ST-S up close last weekend. (A BRP rep had one that looked exactly like the one shown in the OP pictures).

The stance of this machine is indeed a cross between the RS and RT. Seating position felt, to me, a tad more towards the seating position of an RS than an RT. The one feature that took me by surprise were the floorboards. They are very hefty and I loved the forward and down tilt of these babies. They really add character to the ST and I am so looking forward to taking one for a spirited run when the demo unit hits my dealers lot. The manually adjustable windshield is a definite winner as well. Too bad this unit did not have the side bags.

Given that the current breakdown of RS to RT sales is approximately 60/40, I asked the rep if he believed that the ST would cut into RS sales. His response, in a nutshell, indicated that the ST was no more a replacement for the RS as it was for the RT. In short the ST is in a class of its own. A politician in the making?

Sorry, but I find the front of the ST and the seating position to be too similar to the RT.

i do not like the looks of the ST compared to the RSS. Especially the 2013 RSS.

it seems like an RT without the backrest.

I was planning on buying an RT next year or two but will keep my RS. May test ride an ST and go that route rather than RT. either way plan on keeping my RS. Love my bike. :spyder2:

I would have still chosen the (SM5) GS/RS. Not that I can find anything wrong with the ST; but, I don't feel it's worth the extra $$$ to me. Just like I wouldn't purchase an SE5 GS/RS b/c once again, to me, it's not worth the extra $$$.

Bob D.,

Since you brought it up, to me the order of appearance (from top to bottom) is: RS-S, RS, ST................................................ ..........................RT.

Kratos,

I was just trying to hit 3,000.

Bob,

Sorry, I made a mistake. At the very top of the list should be a 2008 PE, yellow, GS, SM5.

It is comfy, really nice riding position! I don't think as comfy as my RT, but bet it is a lot more fun to ride! Took my course on a RS and that was a lot of fun! So I can just imagine.:yes:

Thanks Faran, I think so too! If I could afford it I would Defenitely add it to the stable! But have to pay the RT (which I love to ride!) first.:banghead:

I was on a tour of a helicopter plant with other spyder riders including one from a dealer and he said he would have some available for a test ride in a week or so. (hopefully before the snow!) it felt really good and with the fox shocks and other changes to the suspension, as Lanmont says, it is a sweet ride! (not from experience, but from Lamont's review)

At first, I was really excited about the new ST. But, I have cooled off a bit, now. J
The ST-S is the one that has my attention. I’m not interested in having a radio. And, I already have a Zumo 550 GPS, and the Givi Cases. Heated grips would be nice. But, I have gotten along this long without them. I like the passenger floor boards. That’s something my Wife would appreciate too, I think.
The revised suspension, and Brembo brakes have my attention, as well. And, until I ride one, I won’t know how I feel about the bigger, adjustable windshield, and new bar position. We have been on trips equaling 1,800 + miles in 8 days. My RS-S works for me. And, I’m not even using the 1” riser block on this one. My ’08 GS had that. But, I guess I don’t really miss it. I’ve logged over 55,000 total miles in just under 49 months.
After having sat on a few RT’s, I know, I’m not ready for that riding position. If the ST is really close to that upright position, I doubt I’ll like it. I’ll just have to wait until my dealer gets them to know.
My dealer doesn’t think they will be arriving until December or January.

For those of us with RT's , it really makes us think also. I spent $$$$ and time trying to get my GS comfortable and now am on my 2nd RT. I chose the RT for the wind protection and comfort. In my opinion , the ST is far more striking , and suits my tastes better. I may move from the RT to the ST. :yikes:
