Has anyone attached a small flag to the antenna of a RT? if so, does it cause any damage.

That's a good thing to know. I was concerned that it might loosen the antenna up from it's mount...

I have done a 6x9 but only for low speed parades/rides.

I found that the Third Journey flag for SpyderFest this past Spring loosened my antenna. I would recommend something smaller and of a lighter material. Also, put it nearer to the bottom of the antenna. You can zip tie it in place too.

My husband tried attaching a flag to his antenna and his entire antenna broke and blew away!

I was planning on using a small flag, and keeping it at the bottom. Thank you for the replies.

If you keep the flags lower on the antenna it will not bend or break it. This can be accomplished by using a rubber Grommet or washer.

Try to zoom in on pic below.

I bought flag poles that the mounting is behind the tag. I've had them for a year, and they do great.

Had a Goldwing before our Spyder and flags could break the antenna.

As a few have posted, it WILL BREAK the antenna.

I had a small flag that was mounted on a small round wood dowel. Had it zip tied to the RT antenna. Lasted about 2 months then got home one day and the antenna was gone. Snapped it just below the housing on the RT.

Thank you, as that was the set up I was planning on using (other than making the dowel smaller) for my antenna.

I've had a flag on my ESI shorty antenna for the last two years… NO problems, breaks, loosening, or loss of paint. I can't think of any other reason to have an antenna on a bike that has an iPod connector.
