So how do you get the top off of the air box?

You fortunate sons that have your manual, could you look that up for me. I can get it about half way out and then it hits the stacks inside the box. I know there has to be a simple way to do this right? :dontknow:

By the way that gas smell is all the unburnt fuel in the box. There was a lot of pooled up areas in there. I was trying to get a little more room to get the cable on for the cruise control. I gave up on that idea. :(

don't ask me how, but I found the owner's manuel on the internet (PDF file) and printed out a hard copy. Is that what you are looking for?

I have the shop manual and it states, remove the IACV hose from the cover, undo the clips and carefully remove the cover from the right side of the spyder. I didn't remove mine yet but it sounds like a piece of cake.

Got mine now too. :bigthumbsup: That is what the shop manual says but I talked with Brian (the guy who did the first Cruise Control) and he said it took him 1.5 hours to get his off and he had to slide it to the left side of the bike. :dontknow:

I think it's a mix of oil and fuel but they sure didn't make it easy to get that cover off. :edit:

Puddles of fuel? Maybe a puddle of oil...

I read on another web site that if the oil is filled to full, it can result in oil being sucked into the air box... Something to do with non or ill functioning oil splash guards(?) in the oil resvoir(?)...

Glad you got it. :clap: We fought ours during the cruise install (to the point of thinking about a saw:banghead:). Next time W said, "hay - look at this!" and turned and tilted it just right and it came right out. Reverse was just as smooth. Took it out one more time as a repeat. sorta wondering if we sheared something off :D
