View Full Version : Are there any oil change instructions for AFTER the new panel is installed.

I've yet to change my own oil but plan to do it at the next change.

My dealer installed the new panel... but I'm really not sure what panel removal steps it eliminates (that was the original reason for it, right?) and I really could use some help. I've seen posts that suggests the new panel might slip out of place just enough to access filter covers without removing all the screws... but I'm not sure.

Can anyone point me to a new set of instructions for filter changes with the new panel?

They should have given you the instructions that came with the new panel. I will see about scanning and posting them.

That's it. Just make sure all the "tabs" are where they're supposed to be when you slide it back in. And BRP mandates that you tighten the lower of the two bolts first to insure there is no interference with the shift linkage (at least on the SM's -- I don't know what the SE's are like behind that panel). Then check to make sure the shift lever works properly. Looks pretty foolproof to me but the final clearance is only about 1/8" on mine so I'm careful to do it the way BRP suggests.

There's a bracket for the SM and SE now that address that issue.

My kit came with the bracket and instructions. Clearance is adequate but none to spare. My kit is P/N 219 800 255 which contains the bracket P/N 705 006 822. The instructions emphasize tightening the lower bolt first and then the upper. Then checking to make sure the shift lever works properly.

Are you saying there is yet a newer bracket that gives more clearance?

So the SE5 part has not changed, only the SM5?

Thanks for your followup. I searched the on-line sources for OEM parts and found conflicting info. They showed the kit with the number I mentioned above (219 800 255) as available. That would include the bracket 705 006 822 I currently have installed. Searching for the individual brackets either found none were available or found that my bracket 705 006 822 was available for about $6 but the bracket in your photo was discontinued. Are you sure my one-size-fits-all bracket didn't replace the two individual brackets? Next time I'm at the dealer's I'll have him search for the part number in your photo and see what he finds. My current setup is fine. No complaints. But now you've got me curious.
