Went for a little putt today (268 miles) on the way back all my bars disapeared at 170. But it kept going for another 3 miles till I hit a gas station. And it only took 5.3 gallons!! What I'm wondering is has anyone went for millage on no bars? If so how far? Was doing the limit of 75 + on Int. 40. So gas didn't last long.

You cannot trust them bars, they act differently depending on gas type, temperature, altitude, road inclination, etc. I stop to refuel when the last bar is showing, I know my RS is good for about 140 miles (I even got up to 160 in Colorado) but prefer not to risk it. I hate to walk ;)

:agree: what Mr Orange said.

I pushed it once, got to 182 miles and the last bar disappeared. As soon as the last bar disappeared.......well......my kids enjoyed it..

While on a ride in AZ last spring, I hit 198 miles before I got to a station, with no bars showing.

I got 194 miles on one tank with no bars showing for the last 10 miles or so. Took 5.6, if I remember correctly, to fill it. I don't know what was in that particular tank of fuel but I wish I could get it again. Except for riding in the mountains, I don't normally get near that kind of mileage. By the way, I had a couple of REDA cans of fuel in the saddlebags so I wasn't concerned about running out of gas.

Been there, done that, have the t-shirt. I did no bars and ended up putting in 5.8 gallons. I believe I was at 195 miles or so. I don't recommend doing that though--it can be scarry, and if you not lucky--you might run out of gas in a place where you don't want to. That was right on my 34 mpg which is a usual average for me.

Ran out of gas, ONE TIME. When the LAST BAR DISAPPEARED, SO DID MY POWER. I learned my lesson. 2010 RS

I'm glad that I've got that wildly fluctuating fuel gauge that's always waving to me... "LOOK AT MEEE!"

Happened 2 times this year... 0 bars and ended up gasing from a red tank:opps: Yesterday I fueled 5.3 gallons with one bar and the gas light coming on. 162 miles.

When my last bar disappears, I can still go at least 10-15 miles. Maybe more, but I haven't tried going further.

I once went 21 miles with no bars and I put 5.92 gallons on it, out of a dare.
