I'm a little slow at this considering I've logged another 600 miles since I hit the 10K mark last Friday on my way home from work:clap:!! Walt H I should catch up to you in the year 2016 but by then you'll probably be at the 750,000 mile mark!! This is just a comparison I put together to justify my :spyder2: purchase to my wife! If I did not have to replace my rear tire, I actually would have saved money!! Everything is based on being 4.5 months old and certain items have been prorated for the same as far as the truck is concerned.
Spyder:
2012 RS-S SE-5 (4.5 months old)
Pure magnesium and black metallic
Heli-Bar riser, fog lights, BRP backrest / rear deck plate, and a 25” windshield w/side air deflectors

The unfortunate necessities:
Payments $1683.00
Insurance $ 123.38 includes $10 a month for fire and theft on truck to sit)

Fuel economy:
Avg. MPG 38
Fuel used: 264 Gallons
Fuel Cost: $955.58 ($3.62/gal avg.)

Maintenance:
320 miles Leaky front tire bead: warranty but lost ½ day of work to get fixed
600 mile service and oil change $274.00 (lost ½ day of work to get done
4600 miles oil change $91.50 (oil and filters, changed oil myself)
8600 miles oil change $91.50 (oil and filters, changed oil myself)
9000 mile service $95.00
After this service I found the parking brake to be adjusted too tight. The parking brake indicator would be off but the brake would drag causing the rotor to turn pretty colors.
I had a similar incident happen to me @ about 680 miles. So I had the dealer come and pick up the Spyder and they told me that I had forgotten to release the parking brake. Coincidence? Well at least I didn’t have to pay for the tow but, I lost my Spyder for four days!!
9300 miles: Replaced rear tire (Kumho $83.85) Dealer labor and shop supplies $323.00)
10,000 mile Total $3723.81 or almost 38 cents a mile
10,001 miles: bought the service manual to start doing more of my own wrenching

Pro’s: It’s a blast and cheaper than therapy! It attracts a lot of attention!

Cons: Being 6’ 1” I need to get a seat that places me back another inch so I can straighten out my knees and legs, Needs a larger fuel tank, It attracts a lot of attention Any dealer is willing to sell you one or something, but not every dealer can service one! The product line is still relatively new and not quite enough qualified techs out there yet, but it is improving

Truck:
2004 Dodge 1/2 ton 4x4 Quad Cab w/5.7L Hemi (156,000 miles)
2 tone silver and pretty much stock other than a K & N air filter

The unfortunate necessities:
Payments: None!
Insurance $ 146.00

Fuel economy:
Avg. MPG 13:roflblack:
Fuel used: 769 Gallons
Fuel Cost: $2783.78 ($3.62/gal avg.)

Maintenance:
2 full synthetic oil changes with filters $164.00
Fluids: Transfer case, transmission, front differential and rear differential $280.50 (prorated)
Tire wear: $250.00 (prorated)
Misc: bulbs, plugs, and etc $85.00
10,000 mile Total $3709.28

Pro’s: I can get stuck far better and in more places than the spyder! :roflblack:I don’t get wet when it rains.

Con’s: Everybody wants you to help them move!! It’s no where near as fun!!
