I had a rock go through my drive belt and pulley a while back. I called my insurance company to see if it would be covered under comp and they are coming tomorrow to take a look at it. It falls under damage from road debris.

I take it in a week from this Saturday to get it replaced. I was hoping there would be no other damage because the belt and labor alone would be over four hundred dollars. But if insurance covers it, it won't really matter if there is hidden damage. It won't cost me a dime more than my deductible.

Interesting approach. I carry a pretty high deductible, though, so it probably wouldn't have helped me.

Let us know how that goes. I have replaced two belts so far on different :ani29:'s. I also carry a large deductible so it would not help me either.

would it not effect your insurance premiums?

Here is a great deal on a belt, the cheapest I have ever seen them. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-CAN-AM-SPYDER-DRIVE-BELT-OEM-UNIVERSAL-FIT-/261090597711?hash=item3cca365b4f&vxp=mtr .

Normally, a claim under Comprehensive, Won't raise premiums.

...That's if it's a Comp. claim... If it falls under the collision, it's considered an accident and then might be chareable if it meets the criteria that apply in your State. :gaah:
What's a "high" deductible? I carry a $500 Ded. for comp. & collision, but pretty much anything from $200 on upwards of $2500 is possible...

I carry $500, too. Won't help for a $450 belt and sprocket replacement.

That's about what I was thinking. Meeting the threshold... :gaah:
So; do you wish for MORE damage so as to obtain a settlement check, or less damage just on principle? :dontknow:

$1,500 deductible here. Only used it once since 2001.

Did the adjuster rule in your favor?
