Do you practice this?

I always wear a helmet (presently 3/4), jeans and at the minimum either a long sleeve shirt or denim jacket . My rides so far have been around town, usually not exceeding 35 miles. I did have one 85 mile trip in cooler weather, when I wore All the Gear.
Currently, I am only wearing sneakers and not boots.

What does everyone wear, especially in the heat?

I do ATGATT most of the time. Aound town and some back roads, long pants, but not M/C gear. I wear over the ankle boots at least. Mesh gear, even in summer. I would rather sweat a little then bleed a lot.

added. I wear a Shark modular helmet. chin bar down over 25 or so. It does not look bad with it up

Modular helmet, gloves, jacket... I don't wear boots only because my feet are in such poor shape that nothing fits anymore... just slip-ons for the gunboats!

I hear you about your feet, Bob. My feet are in terrible shape (bunions) from high heels and pointy shoes at work. Finding a pain free pair of shoes, not to mention boots, is an ordeal.

I've got a charcot foot on the left side that almost looks more like a fist! I've fought diabetic ulcerations on the dang thing far too often over the past 10 years... :gaah:
But I ain't ready for a Parrot, a Peg and an Eyepatch just yet!

ATGATT for me also. Don't have to worry about hot weather here, but get down to a mesh riding jacket, perforated gloves, and kevlar lined riding jeans when it gets hot (70's) here.

I gravitate more to the NOTGNOTT side of this equation.

Before all of you helmet worshippers go off the rail let me say that I always wear a helmet.

I know from experience that skin is pretty resilient. Brain matter on the other hand, not so much.

Helmet only here. I ware shorts too. I guess I just feel a lot safer on the Spyder then I ever did on my Goldwings.

ATGATT here as well. Although, I usually wear jeans depending on how far I am going, if I am going on a longer trip then I will throw on my riding pants.

But, I always wear gloves, jacket, full-face helmet and boots. I went to move my :ani29: the other day and it just felt weird without my helmet and jacket on.

...I would rather sweat a little then bleed a lot.

Exactly!

Also, proper gear will keep you cooler more than riding without.
Think convection oven and evaporation. If you're riding in 100 degree heat with little more than a t-shirt, you're just slowly cooking yourself like a turkey in an oven. Just add butter.

You're better off being covered to keep off direct contact with that hot air and let the evaporative cooling from your sweat will keep you cooler. Just remember to also keep drinking plenty of fluids.
Also recommend wearing synthetics, not cotton, because they dry faster and are less prone to causing rashes that you'd get from having wet wears next to the skin for too long.

That's my .02

I follow GWRRA guide lines for a Master Tour Rider. ATGATT. BOOTS WITH ANKLE PROTECTION, MESH RIDING PANTS with hip and knee armour, mesh jacket wi armour, full finger gloves, DOT helmet. If rain gear is needed, I buy it large enough to wear with my full gear.

Bones may break but won't loose tattoos...

Hot weather, 3/4 helmet, mesh jacket, jeans, Harley Davidsons riding sneakers, fingerless or mesh gloves and a fluorescent green vest.

Warm weather 3/4 helmet, first gear textile jacket, jeans, boots, leather gloves, fluorescent vest

Cold weather, full face helmet, Can Am leather jacket, warm gauntlet gloves, insulated riding pants boots and of course the above vest

Very cold weather aloof the above plus a first gear one piece riding suit purchased here on the forum.

:agree: I like FirstGear mesh I can wear it year round and in the rain here in Georgia. It keeps me cool in the summer and warm in the cold, we wear sweaters under the mesh.

ATGATT for us: armored mesh jacket, jeans, full-fingered gloves, ankle boots, DOT helmet (type varies with the seasons). Winter jacket changes to leather or textile. Rain gear goes over whatever is already on. If we are doing a Patriot Guard mission, I will sometimes wear a long sleeve white shirt with vest instead of a jacket. Those rides tend to be lower speed, more controlled riding conditions with police escort (i.e. fewer chances of a cage coming across our path). I never ride with short sleeves, open shoes/sandals or shorts...I'm with everyone else about the bleeding! :yikes:

My current gear:

Just one helmet (Hi-viz Shoei Qwest) and pair of boots (TCX X-Five) right now. A bunch of different gloves from Rev'it, Fly, Dainese, etc.

Hot weather: Olympia Switchback mesh jacket, Olympia Airglide pants, Chill-It towels and evap vest as needed.

Cool weather: Firstgear Jaunt textile jacket, Kevlar Draggin' Jeans or AGV Kevlar Cargo Pants.

Cold weather: need to pick up new gear, but I *was* using a Firstgear Kilimanjaro with a Gerbing heated jacket and Firstgear HT Overpants Shell over my Draggin' Jeans. None of that stuff fits me this season, so I'll be investing in new stuff (I might splurge for a Rev'it Defender jacket, tried one of those on at the Revzilla showroom and it made me giggle like a nineteen-year old girl in H&M :joke:)

For commuting, I have a new pair of HT Overpants that I wear over my slacks (I'll trade off my Switchback and Jaunt as needed).

Anyway, as you can see, I'm about as ATGATT as a Spyder rider gets. :doorag:

This is what I do too. Always a helmet and whatever the weather dictates that I wear to stay comfortable.

When I rode my Boulevard, I always wore all the gear. Always a helmet, usually mesh armored jacket, gloves, jeans, and boots. With the Spyder, I have become more lax. Hi-Viz AFX helmet, Hi-Viz Fly Racing vest, jeans, sometimes shorts, and tennis shoes. My fear on the bike was laying it down, with the Spyder, I guess I have this false sense of security. This is for my commute, which is less than 5 miles. Anything longer, and I wear everything.

Yup, same here....my riding consists only of local runs, less than 100 mi. And normally on back country roads.

All The Gear All The Time

In that case then - most of the time. Helmet all of time - mesh jacket on the highway. Always boots and jeans. When it is chilly we wear chaps. Love our spyder!!!
