We're leaving Crescent City CA on Wed Aug 22nd and heading north up the OCH with 2 other spyders from up here. We're gonig to spend 2 days on the ride. We're figuring to ride about 4 - 5 hours per day.

If anyone wants to join in we'd love more sypders to come along.

Trust this advice, he had to borrow clothes on our SITR run in order to keep from becoming PopsicleMan. :roflblack:

I really enjoyed my ride last week from Eureka Ca. up HWY-101 to Lincoln City Or. Had a few chilly parts and heavy fog in the Am. You will have a great time :2thumbs:.

We are planning that kind of ryde in three years when our son graduates from Law School in Salem, Oregon. It will take us that long to save enough leave from work.

Its a long one but in a nutshell

Put helmet on mirror............went and helped TRU-BLUE put oil in his bike.............stood around and had a beer and chatted with some others that went to SITR..............went to bed and forgot Shoie RF1100 with Scala rider on bike.............woke up in am to discover that I left helmet on bike overnight........TWEAKER in Eureka claimed helmet and now has months supply of METH:gaah:

After ryding from Lincoln City to SITR, I would recommend taking a pocket camera. There are a lot of places to pull out on the West side of 101 for photos, if you are traveling North, be aware that you will need to cross the highway. The weather is usually in the mid 50s to mid 60s, with it becoming gusty in the afternoon. I wore a mesh jacket with no problems, but then I think 75 is getting a bit warm (native webfoot). Be aware that 101 in Oregon is a lot more rural than California and the condition of the highway reflects it. If the speed sign says 35, it means 35. Small towns will grab you if you are not paying attention.

Not sure how much time you are planning on spending sight seeing, but the Trees of Mystery in Klamath, CA is worth spending some time. Old town Bandon is really nice as well, lots of shops and stuff to see there. I would also recommend at least having a bowl of chowder at Mo's. There are several along the coast, but the original is in Newport on the old bay front, another nice place to walk around and see the sights.

Two of us rode from SITR (last year) to Portland in a day - not a bad ride on the Spyder - we've done it a dozen times on two wheels. I think Astoria or, perhaps Long Beach would be my one day coast limit. August is tourist time and traffic on the coast is horrific - & if it's hot in the valley, the coast is overcast and "misty".
