6000 and 14,000 Maint service

Since there has been a change in the scheduled Maintenance by BRP, has anyone found out the actual dealer price in performing the service?

The 14,000 miles service ?

The 6,000 miles service ?

Had the 6,000 mile done on my GS on 7/5 cost $178.18. Had the 600 mile done on my RT yesterday, Monday 8/13 cost $167.39. Both got the new oil filter.


Had a Colonoscopy this morning without any drugs - priceless!!

WAY TOO MUCH..... i just paid $151 for an oil change... i can get the oil changed in my Infinity, Tundra, Camry & Chevy for less than that... for the new oil, you need to buy a new tranny oil filter 'cap' because the filter is longer than the original.....

Hummm very interesting.

I guess no one has had the 6,000 ( except one on the GS but zero on the RT ) or 14,000 miles service.

Maybe it has been too hot to ride... Yep I would agree to that, when it's in the 90's and at the hot point of 100 plus, it is hot.

I am coming up on 28,000 mile service on Monday. If that counts, I will let you know the cost. I have opted to have the valves inspected and adjusted if necessary, so that will be a big part of the cost.

If I pay $800 to have my valves checked I will insist I be given a call (Dealer 10 Minutes away) to check out the results while the heads are off the bike. Does that sound resonable?:yikes:

Sounds a bit paranoid to me. Do you have some other reason to distrust your dealer or the service department?

The actual price on my RT was $149.99. I had taxes of $12.40 and a shop fee of $5.00 for other service. The $149.99 included the SE5 cover kit, O ring, coppper washer, and oil, plus labor. pretty close to $151.00

I think if you "artfully" make the request it is reasonable. Position it more from a perspective of learning and genuine interest. Remember if not positioned correctly the dealer may perceive that you are not trusting them and implying they are not honest.

If I was a shop owner and someone questioned my integrity before the "get go".............I would tell them to "get and go"?

Mine went to the shop yesterday for the 14K service, by the book as per BRP. Valve adjustment, bearings, clutch fluid, donuts, coolant, cleaning throttle bodies, plugs, brake fluid change.
Its not going to be cheap, but I WILL NOT have an issue later by having a dealer do a mini/cheap service and having a failure. Still dont agree with the valve check/adjust so soon, but its BRP's playground and we have to pay if we want to play.

By the way, did I mention that the shop I deal with, WestCost Powersports is recognized by BRP as one of the TOP 50 service departments in the US. :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

I did have a colonoscopy on Tues. morning without any sedation. It wasn't that bad!! It was also priceless as It was done at the Syracuse, N.Y. Va. hospital. Maybe that old saying 'No Brain No Pain' does have some meaning to it.

The $178.18 6,000 mile checkup, on my GS, was to my knowledge according to BRP. I take all service on the Spyder serious as I do not want any problems on the road if I can avoid it.

My 2010 RT was in the shop for the 12,000 mile service when BRP dropped its new service requirements on us. What to do? After consultation with service manager we agreed to former 12,000-mile service. Didn't want to give BRP and avenue of escape in case of a problem -- "You didn't have the required 12,000-mile service so we're not covering any problems with BEST." Besides, dealer did not have the new required parts for the 14,000 service. I believe the old 12K and the new 14K service are similar. Charge to me for the 12K service was $750 in northeast FL :yikes:. Dealer will pick up the new procedures beginning at 15K. BRP should have been more explicit with instructions for bikes making the transition from old to new.

Just remember: 2008 through 2010 mandatory valve inspection @ 6,000 miles/$848. One can ask why? :dontknow:

I was in for the 18,000 mile under the old system, so they did both the 9300 items and the 14,000, except for the valve check. I had it done at 12,000 (I have a 3 year mx plan they offer. Old decrepid body won't bend over and work any more.) They did not have the rear seals in stock (?) so went back the end of that week and had those changed. Have no idea what it cost, but took about 5 to 6 hours, if I remember right, the first day and an hour or so the second time. Freedom Powersports in Kennesaw, GA. Been great to me and respond whenever I show up. I will add that the other two N. GA dealers also seem to have good reputatuions for sales and service.
