TUNNEL OF TREES....2012

I called and reserved a block of 10 rooms under "Spyder Group" for October 5th, 6th, and 7th at the Petoskey Days Inn. The phone number is 231-348-3900. If you have trouble getting the Spyder Group rate ask for Sharon Armstrong, she is the person I spoke with when setting up the reservation. It's the same place we have used before. The block of rooms consist of 5 rooms with King beds for $85.56 p/night and 5 rooms with two Queen beds for $83.16 p/night.
When you call make sure to ask for the "Spyder Group". I'm thinking of setting up another short ride after we do the tunnel. It will be to Charlevoix to view the Mushroom homes.

Sure I don't have a problem, we're all motorcycle riders. The motel said that if we needed more rooms they would add as we needed them. As of now I think there is around 5 Spyders that have said they were going to come, not sure how many have actually reserved a room. It will be good to see you again.

Cindi & I had a BBQ scheduled for the same time frame so we changed our plans and will be camping instead in the Grayling/Manistee River area in one of our favorite spots...actually a State Forest Campground right on the river. The warm season is gone for the most part...that's when we do campfires, morning coffee on the banks of the stream, and praying for good weather. For those who have never done the Tunnel of Trees...it's a must do..One of the most beautiful rides in the country.

We bought a 2012 RT and we are looking forward to meeting other Spyder fans and our first road trip up north.

As some of you know I am in the DEEP SOUTH of China Guangdong, Guangzhou city... not much of a seasonal change here... cool 10C in winter to 38C summers.. Green leaves only fall off when pushed off by new growth. I really miss the beautiful colors of Autumn in Oregon... so looking forward to HOPEFULLY all your beautiful breath taking pics from these rides your on. Hoping I can get a "Y" factor :spyder2: here if I can!

I'm hoping we will still be able to make the trip but my mom is in ICU and has been since Sunday. Things are not looking good so I may not be able to make the trip. Which sucks because I could sure use a stress relieving trip right now.

Well the prayers appear to be working. My mom made what the doctors are calling a miraculous recovery. Today she is out of the hospital and back to the care facility she resides in. She had a bleed in her brain in 09 which is why she is in a facility at the age of 64. If things continue on this path I will be making the tunnel trip after all :) She still has a couple of hurdles to overcome but the sepsis and septic shock seem to be knocked down she also had DIC which if you're familiar with know that is almost a death sentence. Thank you again for the prayers and I'm so excited to hop on the bike tonight after a long couple of weeks sitting in ICU!

The Tunnel of Trees ride is next weekend. So, who's planning on coming? We're thinking of leaving around 10:00am on Saturday for the ride. We'll probably stop in Harbor Springs for a visit to Tom's Mom's Cookies, and the the Tunnel and a lunch stop at Leggs Inn. The Days Inn told me there were 5 rooms reserved as of last weekend.

On Sunday Emily and I rode to Mackinaw City through wind, rain, and hail. It was sunny and a little rain on and off while we walked aroung Mackinaw City and just as we got back to the bike to leave it started to rain with hail and maybe a snow flake or two :roflblack:. We really were not laughing. We headed back to Petoskey and it got a lot colder so we decided to call it quits. We never made it to the mushroom houses. All in all we did have a great time and are looking forward to a ride this summer.

We got Jim's Spyder home and off the trailer with no problems. The trailer handled the two Spyders really well. I haven't heard from Jim yet to what the problem is.
We can always plan the mushroom houses next year. It was a great time, even if the weather didn't always cooperate.
