Maxximum powersports just told me they are raising the hourly rate to work on spyders. Its going from 80/hour to 120 an hour. What are the rates where you go?

A $40 per hour increase is obscene.

$110.00 per hour here.

A raise of 50% from $80 to $120 does appear to border on the obscene. They must have bought a lot of tech equipment or sent everyone to BRP for tech training If they are being that mercenary in comparison to other local shops--I would suggest shopping around. Unless, you are getting what you pay for here. :joke::joke::joke:

I thought it was a steep increase. I was just told they have had an influx of spyders needing service and it takes more to work on them. As far as my experience with them, I have none. I have an appointment Friday to get new rear tire, brakes all around, and an oil change. I'm lucky enough to be getting the work done before the rate increase. I haven't heard any horrer stories from other riders who frequent there, so I'm keeping faith that they are good enough to justify the price ..... we shall see.

All the more reason to Learn all you can from others and maintain your spyder yourself.

I called my dealer the other day to inquire about oil and filter change. They said they had raised their labor rates, so now a service will cost $245. I will be getting it done elsewhere.

My dealer has been at $125/hour, just raised it to $150, told me it was necessary because BRP low balls them on warranty payments.

Took mine to FlatOut Powersports (Martinsville, IN) for an oil change today. They charge 60 labor plus parts (somehow equaling 120-150 bucks after tax). However according to the board standard rate is around 150/hr. That really is obscene considering everything else is 90/hr. They do have standard pricing on a lot of smaller things which doesn't seem too bad, but it's still a bit pricey. http://www.flatoutpowersports.com/custompage2.asp?pg=servicemenuroadster

Going rate is $120.00 / HR at Pete's Cycle on Belair Road in Baltimore.

Its prominently displayed on the wall behind the counter on fluorescent orange paper.

"Labor rates do not include parts!"

Our Spyder group here in Houston negotiated with the local dealers for 79.00/hr plus 10% off accessories and merchandise. There is power in numbers. Had my 12k mile maintenance this past saurday came out to 404.00 for four hr job.

I had begun using another dealer > 100 miles away because of what I thought was better customer service and labor rates. So, while pricing my front tire change, there was a shocking difference in what they were ready to charge as opposed to the rate for the far more complex rear tire. When I challenged this I was told in so many words that they did some checking around and their labor rates for Spyders were much lower than other places, so they adjusted upward to the "going rate". They did not do my tires. Between mail order and the local tire store I got what I wanted at my price. Thanks to this forum mostly, my Spyder does not see any dealer unless it is something that requires BUDS.
