I'm sure it has been asked before, but i could not find it if it had. Is it required to have a motorcycle license to ride one? I have heard it was, and I have heard it wasn't.

It depends on the state or province where you live. Most require one, a few don't.

Here's a question:

I live in CA, where you don't need an M1 (motorcycle) license. If I ride into a state that does need one, since my CA license lets me ride my Spyder, am I "covered" in other states, or do I need an M1 to cross the state line?

You don't need to have a motorcycle license when traveling outside of California. You would only need one if your permanent residence were in a state requiring one. Don't worry, you're covered outside of Cali .

My opinion is - CA is your home state, your state license is issued by the rules of that state, so going into another state that may require an M1 would not pertain to you since you are not a citizen of the other state. Does that make sense??

North Carolina requires an "M" endorsement on our license to ride the Spyder and require helmets. Even when we go to a state that does not require a helmet, we will still wear them.

In Florida you need either an M designation or a 3 wheel endorsement also no helmet required as long as you have insurance

Whereas you dont need a motocycle endorsement in other states if your state does not require it, you still have to abide by the state your driving in when it comes to helmets or earplugs, glasses etc.

A Motorcycle license is required here in New York; If you take your road test on a trike, you are then limited to riding trikes; no "leaners"...

I got my Arkansas M. endorsement a year ago. Had to take a nasty written test as well as a driven test.

So, if you live in a state (SC) that the age to get a driver's license is 15, that driver's license is good in all states?
I was told by a GA LEO that the license wouldn't be valaid in GA.
