I was thinking of the times when I first got my Spyder back in 2008. What I've enjoyed the most about the spyder, is how the events and trips that I've participated in, has allowed me to meet many people and new friendships were made. The one memory for me that got me started with all the great folks in the spyder community that I've met was when we had our first "Meet & Greet" at the Royal Diner in Southern Vermont. For me personally, it was the first time that I've ever done something like this. It was a fun time and I was glad to meet some wonderful folks that were there! Mike3069, Roaddog, HDX, Smylinacha, DynamoBT, jeuchler, magicman and tatt2r to name a few. I remember leaving my house in Northern Vermont that morning in snow covered ground and it was still snowing out. I wasn't even sure if I would make it to Southern Vermont. As I got Farther south the skys were starting to clear and we did end up with sunny skys in the afternoon with warmer temps. It was an interesting day for sure! We all had a nice lunch, good conversations and a few laughs. We also did the signing of the Banner for the Vermont leg of the Banner Run. These are some of the pictures that I took from that day to share some memories of that day.

Now I have to ask. Whatever happened to that Banner? :dontknow:

Great post and pics. You've read my mind! I was thinking the same thing about the Banner tradition. I signed Dudley and Jen's Banner when they came through Houston on their 10,000 mile journey a number of years ago. But again, like you what's happened to that Spyder rider tration?

Just yesterday I was unpacking some boxes in the garage and I came across a banner of a different sort. I have one of the banners from Spyders in the Smokies and I had it hanging in our last garage. I need to find a spot to hang it in this house.

Good home for it-- considering I doubt a day goes by without a Spyderlover being there!

I agree we need to start another banner run. Maybe kick it off at the BBQ in September. :ohyea:

I'll see if I can get my guy working on that.

I remember that day. This cemented my obsession with the Spyder. I didn't have one yet. But, by the end of that day, I knew for certain that I would have one eventually. Some really great folks there that day!!!

It was just a way to get folks to get out and ride together. A group would form who had the banner and agree to hand it off to another group. The banner has been all over the country several times. :doorag:

So the banner was in Michigan headed for California and BRP's owners show time.-------We in Missouri remember the pony express like it was yesterday. Because of the true value of the banner it became obvious we better meet at the mighty Mississippi and escort them to Oklahoma. We all felt allot better when they left Illinois and still had the Banner. Here is photo documentation of their coming and going. We guessed about a good subway sandwich they would like and ordered it up before they got here----One of the ladies made reservation for two dinning in ----they also gave instructions for keeping Brian and Deb's meal warm while we waited.

Joe P is filling up their gas tanks and then gave them the shirt off his back. Tina and Teresa picked a table with a wonderful view, clean and comfortable.
From start to finish gas eat and Brian freshening u[p we were on the road in 8 minutes.------not a record for the pony express but good enough for folks from Michigan.
Some Oklahoma sooner's met them at the boarder and they headed for New Mexico a 1000 mile ride and rest stop at the end of the day.----don't you love it when a plan comes together.

D and B we ALL miss you.

Hey Gene, yes we do all miss Brian and Deb. It was great seeing you in Durango though. Come on out to Spyders in the Redwoods and I'll buy you a cool beverage.

Randy, to add to what Lamonster said, the way it works is a group or individule would plan a meet up at some place, like a diner or restaurant in a given location within the state or province. Everyone would gather there at the time agreed by all and just have a nice gathering. Everyone that attends, would then sign the Banner. Someone in the group would take the Banner and pass it on to someone that will be at the next event where they will meet. Like someone in NY would take it to VT and from VT it would go to NH and from there to ME and maybe to MA and travel south and on it goes to wherever and makes the "Spyder Web" across the States or Provinces. It is actually, interesting to see where the Banner will travel. Id be interested to have a Northern Vermont Banner event if someone could have it come up this way again. We did this in Southern Vermont as I stated the last time it was here. Maybe a fall foliage run would be nice as a thought.

I think Smylinacha had a pic of Roaddog eating a doughnut that day.

Yep, That is when we first met. I haven't seen you or your husband since then. I'm glad that you have enjoyed your own spyder since that time!
