In the August edition of Cycle World this person wrote in calling rerself a:yikes: Luddite noodlehead which the name fits. She goes on to say about the disadvatages of a spyder compared to a mazda:banghead: miata. Don't know if anyone rode in a miata but that on comparson to a:( Harley is closed to riding in a:yikes: miata. Evendently this person never rode a:yes: spyder. They probabley have a :(harley and love to clean the oil drips and vibrate so bad that one can't ride them for long because of the vibration in the hand grips.
But then again that is someones opinion. Like they say an opinion:bowdown: is like an as---. Everybody has one.

Seems you took some offense to another's opinion of your favorite ride. :lecturef_smilie:But why did you have to post the same type of remarks about what may be another's choice?
Happen to own both, we rode them to Spyderfest this year and enjoyed it immensly.
I hope the SPYDER over time gives me, and all that ryde them, the same troublefree enjoyment that my Harley hasnojoke
Just fyi, for 35000 miles the Harley has never dripped oil and only vibrates at idle due to the rubber mounting system.
Ryde safe, we'll wave if we pass on the road:D

I drove a 1990 red and black Miata for about 15 years. It was reliable, and I loved it. We now have a red Spyder. We love it too. It reminds me of the miata. It's all good.

a miata vs a spyder ? really :banghead: . I know to be the better person... oh what the heck no im not ( Not when it comes to the ignorance of spyder hating fools ) . They probably are HD owners and are jealous that they dont own a spyder .

I had a 2006 Miata. A fine car.
But to compare it to a Spyder? Really?..............

Maybe she was comparing the Miata to a Mitsubishi Spyder..don't know why you'd discuss either in a motorcycle article

The ol car v bike is always a topic of debate, just as much as people love a good pissing contest between mustang and camaro. People put a heads up mentality on everything!
here are some fun car bike showdowns

Hack I've even seen spyder vs BMW vs Goldwing touring comparison videos, people like a good smack down regardless of if it's a dog and pony show.
they were probably thinking the spyder and miata were both fun in the sun vehicles and might appeal to the same people.

An apples to oranges comparison for sure. For me it goes under the heading of WC (Who Cares).

I've got a 2011 RT and a 2008 Miata and I like exercising both of them. And sometimes I think the Miata is just a step up from the Spyder, because I can put the top up and turn on the AC.
Although I wasn't real happy on Saturday on the Skyline Drive when the bear crossed in front of me. Not much to hide behind on the bike., but it wasn't interested.

Isn't a Spyder kinda like a miata, but without doors?

Oh, those videos are simply awesome...is Ducati considered the fastest of all track bikes or is the hyabusa faster? Any others?

Ducati is fast and exotic but really it's like splitting hairs when it comes to superbikes, the biggest difference is Ducati, ktm and ebr run twins and are allowed up to 1200cc where the inline 4 crowd is limited to 1000cc (racing made rules to make them "fair" but I've always thought it should be here's the displacement rule and any other guidelines like bore stroke ratios (which they do have limitations on depending on number of cyl) but ya know set the rules and let the mfg figure out how to get it around the track fastest.
Pas far as the hyabusa and zx14 I've never seen how those do against a superbike but they do have more overall torq compared to a 1000cc inline 4 as they have more displacement and tend to be drag strip kings and don't do as much circuit racing. And can't recal a heads up to a Ducati or even a BMW superbike.

"Isn't a Spyder kinda like a miata, but without doors?"
Honestly my RT has a much smoother ride than my Miata. The stiff suspension and hard compound tires on the car allows me to whip it around corners like it is glued to the road, but makes for a feel every pebble in the road ride. The RT can cover the space between the corners much quicker. Both are a blast to drive for different reasons. Now if BRP could figure out the A/C option, they may seem a lot closer. Also the term "luddite" was mentioned, I would bet the RT has far more computing power than the Miata does.

This is actually a common refrain from grumpy bikers-- "Why not just get a Miata?"

I think it's often a double-edge insult:

1. They think there's no difference between riding a three-wheeler and riding a sporty little convertible

2. They think the Miata = chick car, thus by extension Spyder = chick trike

Of course, anyone who's driven a Miata (or ridden a Spyder) knows that there's both plenty of difference, and NEITHER are "chick vehicles" (no offense to the wonderful awesome chicks who drive & ride them :joke:).

I guess they do have that in common: you have to have at least a *little* self-confidence in yourself to put up with the ignorant smears. Thankfully, it's always harder to hear those through your smiles. :doorag:

:agree: There seems to be a general lack of Self Confidence with a lot of Spyder owners, About their choice of rides as evident in a lot of posts over the years, Especially with some of the Newbies.
ie; Some one dissed my Spyder so i pealed out and burnt rubber, Whats up with that ! :dontknow: That shows real Maturely. There's always someone who will question your choice, Whether your choice of Bikes ,Cars, Trucks, [wife's] or Sports teams, I know i was a Yankee fan liven in Brooklyn during the 50's 60's, I just smiled all the way to the World Series , Except 1955 :opps:
