Has anyone heard of this...When you are going on a long ride, you put a slice of a potato, wrapped in a paper towel in each front pocket..It absorbs moisture and keeps you from getting chaffed...A friend of mine says he never goes on a long ride with out it...:dontknow:

Is that a potato in your pocket or are you just happy to see me! :roflblack: But seriously, no, I've never heard of that. I use medicated powder on summer rides.

Wear some quality undergarments like Under Armour and you won't have any chafing problems.

:agree: Wicking underwear is a wonderful thing! Watch out, though...it works in reverse in the rain. ;)

To me; carrying a potato seems like a good idea of you're crossing a vast stretch of wildnerness, haven't been attending to normal maintenance items, and are expecting to break down...
But have you ever eaten a raw potato? :barf:
Kind of makes maintenance seem pretty reasonable!

With the heat we have from the seat they may turn into baked potatoes by the end of a long trip.

That's a new one for me. Never had a problem with chafing on long rides. I usually get up and stretch every 50-75 miles these days.

Never heard of this.
I really don't know what to say about it......but I really don't see how this could work. Maybe the paper towel absorbs all the sweat?:yikes:

you forgot the part about the butter to go with the potatoes! maybe it's the butter that keeps them from getting chaffed.:banghead:

Not sure about absorbing water but the last time I told my wife to hold on to the two potatoes in my pockets I got a right good slap round the helmet. :roflblack:

I didn't know we had sooo many comedians here!!!...:roflblack:...I told my buddy at work today, who told me about this, that no one had ever heard of it...He said if you were ever down South, you would have heard of it...Maybe the Florida Express will come to Durango with spuds in their shorts!

I know when cooking, if you have added too much salt to a pot, you can add potatoes to absorb the salt. Maybe it works in a similar fashion to absorb the salt in the sweat, thereby absorbing the sweat...

This stuff is the best but do not use it if you ride with LD comfort or other wicking underwear as it will clog up and demolish the wicking effects.

By the way there are 2 types of anti monkey butt one for men and one for women, the ingredients are different
