Worked on my Spyder today, and found this. Does anyone know what it is, and why it was not connected to anything? I think it might be for the BUDS, but in the wrong place. 47427

i saw that when i was installing my fog lights -- left front -- i thought it might have to do with adding a 12 volt receptical in the front trunk ..

not sure , would like to know also .

thats the power plug for the outlet that isn't in your trunk. i used mine to switch on my f z 1 fuseblock in my trunk.:thumbup:

That would be great, as I have one I want to install too. I just looked at it, and it is the same size with prongs that would fit. If it is then I am glad I have not put the bike back together yet, as I was planning on installing it.

Connection for the 12V plug in the frunk. There should be one on the other side that's on all the time, if there's a fuse, of course.

You have to cut the hole, there's a template with the outlet kit, and then install the outlet and plug in the connector, believe me, it's a lot easier with it dismounted, otherwise, you need really tiny hands.:doorag:

If you happen to be thinking of putting a convenience outlet in the dash, that connector is a great place to grab 12v. I rerouted that connector on Darth as far up as it would go, then plugged wires into it, sealed the connection, and ran the wires to the dash where I mounted a 12v cigarette lighter type outlet. A lot more convenient than having it in the frunk.

I have not been able to find that connector on my 2011 RTS, although it existed on my 2010. I'll admit that I haven't had the trunk off, but it is no longer tied to the left suspension bracket if it exists. I wanted to snag it for a Powerlet outlet. It should also be noted that on the RT this outlet is live all the time, and is fused at 10 amps, along with the rear outlet. On the RS, it is switched and is rated for 3 amps, but you will have to install a fuse in the "Switched Accessory" slot in the fusebox.
