View Full Version : First Self Inflicted Farkle......... Bling With a Purpose

One of the first things I noticed when I took delivery of my RT-Ltd last week, was that the tail/brake lights were not high enough to garner attention from my fellow 4 wheeled friends, especially those "ying yangs" texting and playing on their smart phones while driving (The phones may be smart, but those using them while driving are not!).

I knew I needed to find the right farkle for this. Spyderlovers had several folks that have addressed this, and I chose the ESI High Mount Brake Light and Dual Converter to remedy this. I'm not one that enjoys, or even cares to get into the tupperware removal/replacement on these bikes, but this install was rather simple, and the results are great. The product is ideal, and looks OEM when installed.

Instructions were strait forward, but I did need to remove a few bolts from the lower rear black panel as I could not find the 5 pin connector with just the painted skin removed, but that was no big deal. Having a computer at my side with color photos of the install helped, as the included black and white instructions were not easy for a simpleton like myself to see what parts were coming off. For a non-mechanical/electrical dude, I found this install to be pretty strait forward and simple to accomplish in less than an hour.

I think the Dual Converter Option is a good adder, but noted that for $30, it was 3 tiny pieces of wire connected and shrink wrapped and a posi lock connector. Not much going on there. But worth the resulting running light and brake light combination. It is truly a plug and play product. No wires to cut, and nice connectors included. I ordered this unit from ESI, and within 3 days it was delivered. Nice job ESI!

This product does not come cheap, but the quality and end results of my first farkle has inspired me, and given me some confidence to take on others.

These photos show the unit in running light mode only. Brake light is quite bright, and the High Mount LED's compliment the LED tail lights nicely. The Chrome top blends nicely with the bikes chrome too.

Wow ! First time I saw that .

That looks like when you hit the brake , it should scare the crap out of the guy behind you at night .

From a distance cagers probably wonder what the hell is that glowing up there .

I like it , very nice . Safe and effective

I installed it on our RTS a few months ago. It makes a big difference. Some of our RC members said it really stands out.

I had mine installed last year at Spyderfest and it is the best safety mod by far.
