Trike international speed record is 123.404 mph established in 2011 (on a Lehman Renegade).

Is BRP sending a pit crew in August? ;)I think SethO got around 119mph so Doc's attempt ought to go OK. They will classify the modified bikes (i.e. Turbocharged) with the stock bikes. One thing I noticed with Seth's runs last year was that with that fat rear tire, the thing would climb up on the salt at around 119mph. It was like it was hydroplaining on the salt. That combined with the enormous drag meant that he wasn't going any faster. More power won't help this situation. Maybe Doc can make a couple of changes. A narrower rear tire might help. I don't know what to do about the drag.
Just my $0.02

I've got a fellow that I insure who SWEARS that he was clocked by the local LEOs at 137mph... I suggested to him that he head West to the Salt Flats since the record is obviously his; all he needs to do is go pick it up! http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_1_5.gif

I'll be in Durango --- might have to alter my plans and swing over to the flats.

I agree that HP is only gonna do so much---- need to work on aerodynamic changes in my opinion. Cover headlights and front wheel wells, etc.....

kick some ass out there doc, you should make sure that you have your gas lines covered in a anti fire coding or steel or steel braided outside. I got away with not doing this but you will get the record so I would make sure to ask and just have them wrapped in something.
The head guy is from MI and I can't remember his damn name. but if you call the fim they will know him and he could clarify this issue.

The other things you will need to do is drill your front lug nuts and have them safety wired.

Also you have to have the front and rear fenders NO lower than the center of the axles so I just cut my fronts and did not have my rear on.

Anything else you got questions on for them I would also talk to tom santa claus anderson from Siren, WI he is awesome and know's everyone out there.

NancysToy
06-11-2012, 08:46 PM
The fireproof sleeves for the gas lines should be available locally in a large city. I got mine in Grand Rapids.

docdoru
07-05-2012, 05:07 PM
Obviously there must be a class for a trike but I couldn't find it in the rules. Did I miss it?
Considered a trike and can compete only for the FIM; in my case the class is: Category 1, Group B3, Division A, Type II, Class 10.

Front tires...
A 145/75-14
or
155/70-14
would work out to just about the same overall diameter and revolutions per mile.

Does anybody make anything in those sizes?? :dontknow:

I've got an insured here who swears that he was clocked on radar at 137mph... I mentioned that he should take his bike to Bonneville since it's obviously in contention for a lot of land speed records. ;)
