I have a friend that may be looking at a Spyder. He has been a Harley guy since forever. He wants to know the differences safety wise between the Harley Trikes and a Spyder. I can tell him all of the features of our Spyders. He is also pointing out that a Harley is not much different on price. He keeps quoting the price of a Limited RT at 28K.

Is there a website I can send him to, that will give him an opinion other than mine, about our wonderful Spyders? is there a website that has information on the Spyder systems? The info on the BRP site seems a bit limited to me.

Thanks!

I'd tell him to look here. Has he test drove either one? In my opinion there really is no comparison between the two other than they each have 3 wheels. If he is interested in the semi auto that of course is something that is not available on the Harley. We have a reverse gear and I think they have an electric motor that isn't as powerful.

What would be wrong with sending him here? He will get more info on this site than any I can think of.

What your friend needs to do is ride them both and decide for himself. The opinions on the subject are as varied and as brand-aligned as the riders themselves. I have owned and ridden both types of trikes, and I much prefer the Spyder for a lot of reasons, including safety features and stability. I'd like to be able to recommend a site that would objectively compare them, but I know of no such place. It's really up to the purchaser and his preferences.

I would think the stopping and turning advantages of the Spyder over a more traditional trike design would be hard to ignore. Harley brand loyalty is very high and comes with a lot of peer pressure. Even if his head come to a Spyder conclusion, his heart may stay with Harley.

A bare bones HD trike (which is actually a factory conversion done by Lehman) will run you around 30k. To get an HD trike as loaded as an RT, you'll easily spend $40k.
Safety wise, there simply is no comparison.
