A few months ago I posted some information about a weekend campout/Spyder & Motorcycle Poker Run on Saturday with Friday night festivities at a VFW campground just south of Dayton, Ohio. , food, bonfire, etc, a Saturday ceremony that would honor our military veterans, poker run, BBQ, band, and meeting of the interested...ie; A Community of Interest...
Community of interestFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article is about the concept of a community based on a common interest.
A community of interest is a community (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community) of people who share a common interest or passion. These people exchange ideas and thoughts about the given passion, but may know (or care) little about each other outside of this area. Participation in a community of interest can be compelling, entertaining and create a ‘sticky’ community where people return frequently and remain for extended periods. Frequently, they cannot be easily defined by a particular geographical area.
In other words, "a community of interest is a gathering of people assembled around a topic of common interest. Its members take part in the community to exchange information, to obtain answers to personal questions or problems, to improve their understanding of a subject, to share common passions or to play."[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_of_interest#cite_note-0) In contrast to a spatial community (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spatial_community), "a ‘community of interest’ is defined not by space, but by some common bond (e.g. feeling of attachment) or entity (e.g. farming, church group)."[2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_of_interest#cite_note-1) ...

I need to know if people are still interested in doing something like this so I can commit for the campground from the VFW..The campground would be donated by the Franklin VFW...it has about 18 electrical hookups for rvs, spaces for primative camping (tents), etc, bathroom facilities, 7 acres of space. There would be bonfires, etc..More details to come if people are interested. It would probably cost you around 20 dollars to pay for the bands and other expenses...any left over would go to the vereran's relief fund of Ohio.

Please post your interest in attending...There are no restrictions aboiut where you come from, what you ride, who or what you are....Please refer to the definition of Community of Interest. There will be awards for best Spyders in both classes..Rt...RS/GS...Bottom line...It'd be a good time if you're interested in coming....Let the good times roll....

While I can say I am interested...the early part of the month would be bad for us. We are expecting our first grandchild near that time and it is hard to commit. If it works out time wise then I or we will be there. Sounds like fun. I am finding that my wife is reserving too much of my time for this, including Spyderfest...due to the baby shower.:yikes::yikes::yikes:

If I recall correctly the VFW was donating it for the last weekend in August....I can't swear by it but I think it was the only weekend they have available for the summer...I'm going to have to double check but I want to know if there's any interest before I start chasing the goose...:)

We just purchased a 2012 Spyder and started looking around for things to do, places to go, and things to see. Started looking for local stuff in Michigan, saw your post and was interested. BUT :-( we already planed a trip to the Badlands the last 2 weeks of August. We will keep an eye out for other Michigan area get-togethers. Would love to meet some of you.

Chrres,
Jayson & Maggie

Welcome to the forum..I haven't received enough response for the August deal at the VFW campground so I'll probably look around Michigan for an overnight camping trip. Cindi and I have camped in the Grayling area a few times before and have always enjoyed it...Might be something to consider. We've got a pretty good group from Michigan that get together often for both 1 day and overnight for rides to places like the Tunnel of Trees in the Petosky area (Bob & Joan put this together as a annual event and I'm sure they'll be posting details before too long). If you have an idea for a ride put it in the Michigan forum and I'm sure you'll always have a lot of the Michigan folks responding..Another sidebar...you can get Michigan's version of our shirts for the chapter in Spyderlovers that are made by one of the sponsors here...Keep looking at the forum and you'll find information on both Michigan events and other rally's/events that we participate in. One that Cindi and I are going to is the Spyders in the Adirondacks the 2nd week of August... Anyway...Again...Welcome to SpyderLovers...I'm sure you'll enjoy both the people and events...and last but not least...all the invaluable information you can get from other members here....

Jayson and Maggie - I'll add my welcome to Larry's. There are a number of rides in Michigan. Some with just a day or two notice, some well in advance of the actual ride. We'll look forward to meeting you.
