Hello all. Haven't checked in lately since I moved to Fl. and have been trying to get settled. Went to the dealer in clearwater
and asked if BRP had it ( the new motor) in production yet of course the answer was no.
Has anyone heard any more about it. I will definitely trade up, as I would like to get a trailer, and feel that more HP would be better for that.
Thanks.

I am feeling that it is not going to happen in the next couple years or so.

I remember reading some posts about people who have installed an aftermarket Turbocharger. I think there may have been some reliability problems with engines that burned out prematurely.
My recollection may be in error. Someone else who knows better......please help with some details ?

Every major manufacturers are adding single or dual turbo to their engines. Aerocharger is the only variable-vane and no turbo-lag kit available for the RS. Is the Rotax 990 (designed in the pre2K era, non-forged pistons and 13:1 compression) ready? Yes, with some major transformations. And yes, I burned 2 engines but not prematurely (compared with the number of miles and the number of other non-turborized engines failure).

Bigger Motor, 6th gear, supercharger, 50 mpg, yeah, all those things are right around the corner along with a lower price. :roflblack:

Until competition shows up for the Spyder, I doubt we will see a larger motor or any real changes, other than color options etc.

I'm not rich enough to afford cheap motorcycles...not well manufactured, more prone to breakage, triple the Porsche maintenance cost and so difficult to repair. nojoke

I've got my settlement both for my totalled spyder and injuries. I'm waiting for the 2013 RT.

I was lucky enough that mine was able to be rebuilt; The Missus would have never let me pull the trigger again if it had been totalled... :yikes: :opps:
So I'll stay happy "farkling" it up... :roflblack::thumbup:

1) Bought my RT-S
2) Decided to go to SpyderFest from PA via Nashville (daughter there)
3) Didn't want to ride 13 hours on the Interstate to Nashville or 6 hrs more to Cuba
4) Bought a trailer
5) Mazda CX-7 just doesn't want to pull a trailer (why do they even make a hitch for it?)
6) Sold Mazda, bought 1-owner 2005 Tundra with 29,000 miles to pull trailer carrying RT-S
Could have flown to South America then to the other Cuba, vacationed for a month or two, and still saved some $$.
7) But I would have missed meeting all of you and the Rydes in Missouri !!!!!
Bottom line:
Don't make fun of Tundras... like Spyders, we don't buy them for the mileage... :yikes:
