The driver at this point is Sgt. Ed Thomas.Can-Am, the company that sells the Spyder, is showcasing the three-wheeled motorcycle by leasing it to police departments for $1. Officers get to drive it for a year. All the local police department had to do was outfit it with lights and sirens. For Thomas, the spring-like weather was a welcome opportunity to break in the new vehicle. He said it’s easier to maneuver than a cruiser, and will be used for traffic enforcement. At the same time, it has some safety features, such as traction control and stability control, that make it safer than a regular motorcycle. It is not just a fair weather vehicle though, as it is equipped with a windshield and heated grips.Thomas said the operator needs to have had a motorcycle license for at least three years.

I know a lot of people with disagree with me, but I do not see the point of using motorcycles (or Spyders) in law enforcement.
