Hello All!

Here to announce tonight The Rock Ride (http://g.co/maps/6xy4f)for SpyderFest 2012!:yes::yes:

The Rock Ride is a new and improved version of the popular ride last year that took SpyderLovers to see Elephant Rocks State Park. This year we have added a stop on the way and extended the route! New for you this year will be a visit to Johnson Shut-Ins State Park!:thumbup:

The Rock Ride is planned for both Thursday and Friday, so if you miss one day, you can catch the next. This also will give you some flexibility to catch the popular Herman Ride with ride captain GloryRiders (Jim and Linda), or allow the ladies to catch up with ride captain SpyderLady Linda on the Lady's Ride. There will also be another ride announced soon by ride captain Mo Lee that you may be able to catch!

The ride captains for The Rock Ride will be SpyderMonkey4 (Brenda Barton) and SteveMac (Steve McAnelly)

Ride Specifics are:

When: 26 April @ 9 :30am --- and again --- 27 April @ 9 :30am
Where: Leaving From Cowtown 413 Daniels Rd – Cuba, Mo (NOTE BE SURE TO ARRIVE WITH A FULL TANK TO START)
Approximate Route Time: 7 Hours – Which includes Breaks / Lunch / Visit Time (longest time on Spyders approx 1.5 hours at any one time)
Approximate Route Miles Total: 175 miles (view route (http://g.co/maps/6xy4f))
Leisurely Ride – For Cruisers not Bruisers! :roflblack:
Brief itinerary:

Leave Cowtown 9:30,
Arrive at Johnson Shut-Ins about 11:15, sight see until 12:15,
Arrive at Baily Jo's BBQ at 1:00 for lunch and fuel up in Pilot Knob MO.
Arrive at Elephat Rock State Park at 2:30
Arrive back at Cuba approx 4:30

Here is a tiny bit of information from the Johnson Shut-Ins official website (Click for more info (http://www.missouri-vacations.com/johnson's-shutins-state-park/))

Nearly 1.5 billion years ago, violently explosive volcanoes hurled hot gasses and ash into the air. The ashes and gas fell and cooled, forming rhyolite rock. A billion years later, shallow inland seas swallowed the ancient, worn-down mountains, burying the igneous rock under thousands of feet of sedimentary rock such as limestone, sandstone, shale and dolomite.

About 250 million years later, the entire Ozark region lifted and the seas retreated. The wind and rain took their toll on the upraised land, sending streams of sand- and gravel-laden water to slice away the layers of soft sedimentary rock and expose the rhyolite below. In low places, the swift Black River became shut-in by the hard igneous rocks, swirling and churning to form huge potholes, and breaking away the weaker rock to create natural water slides and canyon-like gorges.

And Here is a little bit of info about Elephant Rocks State Park! (Click for More Info (http://www.missouristateparks.net/elephant-rocks-state-park/index.htm))

Formed About 250 million years ago, Imagine a train of circus elephants dance trunk-to-tail to form an awe-inspiring sight to the young and to the young at heart. This is the appeal of Elephant Rocks State Park, named for a train of gigantic pink granite boulders perched atop a hill, just like circus elephants! This curious geologic formation at the heart of the park is called a tor, or a high, isolated rocky peak which is usually formed of disjointed and weathered granite. This tor was created nearly 1.5 billion years ago by molten magma being pushed to the surface. For millions of years, the magma slowly cooled, forming coarse, crystalline reddish-pink granite.

And in April 2012.., These magnificent natural wonders will be explored by SpyderLovers from all over North America! :ohyea::ohyea::spyder::ohyea::ohyea:

Below are some of the awesome sights you will see. Come join us for a full day of Spyder Ridin Fun!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D

With a 10 minute drive, you'll have to be at breakfast early if you want a change to make both the paid breakfast at recklien hall and this ride on Friday.

Aw come on, an early breakfast is no problem joet82!!!!!!

Just think of all the fun you will have on those twisties!

I rode the route a couple of weeks ago. On several curves, I would catch a glimpse of another Spyder's tail lights. I kept pushing to catch up, but finally realized they were my own lights...:yikes:

Now THAT is twisty! :roflblack:

I love riding twisties, but also like free breakfasts. Haha. Maybe on Friday you could push the start time to 10? Just a suggestion. It would give the Friday riders plenty of time to wait in line for breakfast though.

Actually, what we did was to start the Friday breakfast a little earlier to keep from having folks rush through the free food!
There is an updated events schedule at: http://www.spyderfest.com/Events_Schedule.html
This helped both the Ladies Ride riders and the Rock Ride riders.

We couldn't start the Rock Ride much later because it would cut it too close for FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS and believe me, NO ONE WANTS TO MISS FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS....:yes::yes:

Running the Rock Ride today! What a gorgeous day. Co-Captain Brenda Spydermonkey4 and I wanted to run the route and make sure of run times etc (not to mention the fun of running these twisty Ozarks roads!).

We met up with a new SpyderLover member and RSS owner Sally "JelloBrain" :)

We paid a visit to Baily Jos BBQ and took some pics and we also found a fuel stop large enough to handle all of us!

My idea was original and is outstanding. The wine ryde ad the rock ryde just stole the idea from the ladies. Not to worry all Rydes for all Ryder's will have a great time. It is about the ryde, the friends and getting to meet new people!

RIGHT you are Murphy Brown! Brenda Barton "SpyderMonkey4" led that ride today and did an amazing job. An amazing story really. She has had her spyder for only 14 months. Never rode a bike before that. And today this amazing lady led 86 folks through some of the twistiest roads the Missouri Ozarks can offer.

A testament to the safety and stability of the Spyder and to her guts and skill.

LOVE YA Brenda!!!
