View Full Version : Personalizing the RT

The new Spyder RT got a little decoration today. Just enough trim to make it look distinctive IMO.
The Pearl White color is actually a PPG color called Vegas White as I found out when trying to purchase the materials to paint my trailer to match the bike.

I added some copper colored striping to try and set off the white a bit and I am happy with the results. I also added some chrome trim to a few areas particularly the front scoop area.

Very nice additions, quite tasteful. Really ought to think about what to do with the road kill sheep on your seat though:yikes::yikes::roflblack: No offense meant, just a baaad joke

Is the "vegas white" a "perfect" match?

 Glad to see someone did it first. Was thinking along the same lines. Looks very nice indeed!
Bike week starts this week, just may look up a pin striper I know over in Daytona and have him do it!

Again Well Done!

Steve:

After trying several cushions (I have an airhawk I sometimes use at the end of long days), I finally found a sheepskin cover in a tack shop where we buy our horse supplies. It is actually a saddle cover made for a western saddle. I found it at Horsetown East here in the Atlanta area.

Is the "vegas white" a "perfect" match?

The Vegas white is the same color as Pearl white. Unfortunately, my local body shop is not set up to apply water based paint and that is what Can Am uses at the factory. (Enamels, Lacquers and Acrylics are forbidden by Caandian federal laws apparently). So while I can buy the water based paint at the Can Am dealership I can't find anyone in my area to apply it.

I took the side panel to a automotive paint supplier and had them match it as best they could with a two stage Lacquer (same thing I had to do to match my wife's Lava Bronze to her existing trailer). They did okay but I can see that there is just a touch more cream color in the Spyder than in the trailer, but I am really picky.

If it was a panel on the roadster we were trying to match it would probably be noticeable but on the trailer there is really no big difference.

Regarding the Waterbased Vegas White - ya gotta figure we Canadians for the ECO- Friendly stuff - it's like we can all come out of the Left Coast or something ;)
