Hey Folks!

We had several members ask if we would create one "Official" SpyderFest 2012 post, so here we go!

I will edit this first entry continually and add the names of those attending, so everyone will know what the count is and also see which of your SpyderLovers friends are going!

Be sure to subscribe to the thread (under Thread Tools) and you will know when there are updates via email.

I'll base it on both the paid entries and also those who commit to going, since some may wait to pay until later.

If you would please, DO NOT QUOTE THIS FIRST POST in any replies as it will make the entire thread way too long! I am hoping that this first post will continue to grow just like last year!

When you place an order online at www.spyderfest.com (http://www.spyderfest.com), or mail in your registration, I will automatically add you here. However, if you are committed to coming to SpyderFest, but haven't sent in your registration, we want to include you here too! So just PM me and I'll get those who are committed to going on this list. Should be fun! See you in April...
:yes::spyder::yes:

Just wanted to give you an update. We do have the new website live on the internet now!

Just visit: www.SpyderFest.com (http://www.spyderfest.com/) and we would love it if you would stop by the site and look around.
There is a guestbook for you to say HI, and there is an email option for info@spyderfest.com (info@spyderfest.com) if you have any additional questions.

We also now have the www.shop.spyderfest.com (http://www.shop.spyderfest.com) online registration up and running!

Both PayPal and Credit Cards are now accepted!!!!:spyder::yes:

What you will find there:

Registration Info is now available for Credit Card and PayPal options or Snail-Mail. (And there is an Early Bird Registration!)
Schedule of Events, is still a work in progress and subject to change, but you can view what we have for now, and go back to the site often to see updates.
Visitor Information, we have tried to list every hotel and camping ground in the area and beyond, along with their website info, map, and phone numbers. If you feel one needs to be added, just pop us an email!
Vendor Information, another work in progress, but as we get confirmed vendors and know what they will be doing, we will let you know! So, again check in often.
Media, there are some photo slide shows and videos, mostly what we have seen here, and some that we linked to off of YouTube
Guestbook, we would love to hear from you, so register with us. We will add you to our email list for any major announcements or updates.
And as always, we will be posting updates here on SPYDERLOVERS, the best site on the internet for those of us afflicted with this SpyderLover toxin!

Hello SpyderLovers! :ohyea:

We will be alerting you to various SPYDERFEST 2012 events as we become sure of them. Here is one that we can let you all know about!

For those of you who attended last year, you will remember the Passport Runs. A lot like a poker run, but instead of a "deck of cards" we use Passport Books! You will be guided to various stops in and around the Cuba Missouri area. Places you probably would never know about without the Passport Run!

The news tonight is that Danny Farris of Farris Customs will once again this year be Sponsoring a Passport Run. Anyone who buys into the Farris Customs Passport Run will turn in their completed Passport(s) and be entered into a drawing to win a Limited Custom Paint Job By Farris Customs valued up to $2,500!
:yes::yes::yes::spyder::yes::yes::yes:

Check out this link (click here (http://www.farriscustoms.com/)) to see the AWESOME work that Danny does, and he is a great guy to boot. Don't tell him I said that though...:)

Just one more reason for you to attend SpyderFest 2012!

Oh yeah...! There will be some more big news about SpyderFest 2012 coming out in the upcoming weeks, so be sure to subscribe to this thread so you will get emails on new posts! :lecturef_smilie:

Hey Folks,
Today, we confirmed with John @ Elka (Trooper here on SpyderLovers) that he will indeed be conducting some seminars on installing and adjusting Elka Shocks.

But wait there is MORE!:yes::spyder::bowdown::bowdown:
--------------------------------------------------
John Confirmed Elka's SpyderFest 2012 Passport Run Today:
Elka Suspension will be sponsoring the “We Put Our Money Where Our Mouth Is” Passport Run this year! If you are considering putting Elka Shocks on the front of your Spyder, then this ride is for you. You will be able to purchase a set of Elka shocks and have them professionally installed before the ride. If you complete this twisty, challenging ride and aren’t 100% satisfied with your Elka shocks, then you can return them with no questions asked and have your old shocks reinstalled. Also, any paid riders in the Elka Passport Run will automatically be entered into a drawing in which Elka will be sponsoring up to $2,500 in their high performance Stage 5 shocks for your Spyder!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SpyderLovers, if you have wondered whether or not you should put Elka shocks on your Spyder, then this offer by John and ELKA should convince you to come to SpyderFest 2012 and take them up on this offer. You won't see this type of offer at many (if any) other rallies!

Just one more reason that you should NOT miss SpyderFest 2012!

We will keep you updated to all the latest news surrounding SpyderFest here on SpyderLovers.com and also at www.spyderfest.com (http://www.spyderfest.com/)

See you there!

Hey Steve... it's Bullant12 not Bulliant12.

And add to the list (I don't think he's registered yet, but he will soon, but I did his hotel reservations so I know he's coming):
Peaceful Ben plus 3 guests (non-registered spyderlover.com Spyder Ryder Couple and Ben's co-ryder for the event.)

Thanks!! Great job by the way!!!:2thumbs:

The Official BRP Demo van will be at SpyderFest 2012 in Cuba MO!

Yes, that's right. In April, BRP will have their demo van at Cowtown USA for SpyderFest!

 Been wanting to try out a new RSS??

 Been wanting to try out a new RT??

Either way you win!

Also this now really opens up the event to any of your friends with whom you want to share the SpyderLovers toxin!

Bring them with you to SpyderFest, and they may just leave with a new :spyder2:!!!!!!!!

Obviously, everyone who registers for SpyderFest 2012 is going to receive the official event shirt included in the cost of your registration.
(And don't forget those meals too...)

However,,,
The MoGang SpyderFest Planning Committee has received several emails from members here on SpyderLovers and from others planning to attend SpyderFest, asking if we would have another shirt option (in addition to the official shirt) available this year.

We had the additional shirts last year and it was a big success, but the problem was that you couldn't get the shirt until SpyderFest actually kicked off....
:gaah:

Well,,,Good news! :ohyea::ohyea::ohyea:

The answer is Yes! We will be offering an additional shirt. And early!

The "SpyderFest or Bust" Shirt!

In addition, we will be putting this shirt on www.spyderfest.com (http://www.spyderfest.com) later this evening in hopes that you might want to pick one up early and wear it on your ride into SpyderFest, showing your brotherhood with other SpyderLovers from all over the USA!

The shirt concept is shown below and will be available in Black, short or long sleeves. Check out www.spyderfest.com (http://www.spyderfest.com) for more details on pricing and ordering! Len will be shipping these out from Cowtown to you as they are ordered, so you will have them in plenty of time for your ride to Spyderfest, and maybe even to wear around a couple of months before the event!

I have a sneaky suspicion that our webmaster Lamonster will be receiving one of these early on, and maybe he will model it for us if we put some peer pressure on him. I warn you it is not waterproof though! :)

The logo has a retro-look and is pretty cool. Large logo is on the back, with a smaller SpyderFest 2012 logo on the front left.

I don't think people realize what a BIG deal this is. We tried to get BRP to bring out the demo truck last year and it was a no go. Part of the problem is it cost a lot to bring that out to an event where pretty much everyone there already owns a Spyder. I hope this pays off for them and we'll have some new SpyderLovers at the end of the event. :doorag:

Great job guys

Lamont, you are right on the money. :agree:

This is just HUGE news. What this does is really take the event to a new level. Obviously, SpyderFest is an event "for SpyderLovers by SpyderLovers" but having the BRP Demo Van there really broadens that. I hope all of our SpyderLovers family here will really put out the word to any of their friends who are even remotely interested in owning a Spyder. I cannot possibly imagine a better scenario for the person who is in "shopping mode". Remember, all trikes, two wheelers, etc are welcome. This is an open event! So those owners should feel welcome to attend.

Just think of it:

We will have all of the wonderful folks from SpyderLovers there.
There will be great rides that everyone will enjoy.
Tons of food.
We will have LOTS of great vendors there with Spyder specific products and exhibits.
And...We will now have the BRP Demo Van!:thumbup:
We were talking about this very thing today at Cowtown. We hope that all of our friends here will really spread the word, especially outside of our SpyderLovers world. Get the word out to anyone even remotely interested in owning a Spyder! This could bring new owners into the Spyder world, new members here to SpyderLovers.com and more fun to SpyderFest!!

It is just such a winning combo!:yes::yes::spyder::yes::yes::yes:

Most definitely not my intent to in anyway diminish or negate the dedication, hard work and contribution of ANY member of the MoGang. We all know an event of this magnitude and excellence. It's just that Mr. Mac is more out front, more accessible and an easier target. :D

Hello SpyderLovers!

The news tonight is that SPYDERPOPS Harvey will be at SpyderFest in April!
:chat:

Harvey will be bringing his full range of products for both the RS and the RT. If you have wanted to solve that "hot right foot", then Harvey has a product for you. Worried about damage to the belt on your Spyder from gravel and debris,,, then Harvey has a product for you too!

And his newest product the BumpSkid for the RT is super cool, and acts as both a bumper and a skid plate to help protect your RT from damage due to speed bumps, parking blocks and other road gremlins out to harm your baby! Check out Harvey's post on this new product (click here (http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?35433-BUMPSKID-NOW-AVAILABLE-ONLINE&p=404658&viewfull=1#post404658)).

Be sure to check out SPYDERPOPS website at: www.spyderpops.com (http://www.spyderpops.com) and remember that Harvey is a sponsor here at the best website for SpyderLovers anywhere!

AAAAHHH!!!! So sorry for the late reply...I will be there along with "Some Girl". We will be at the Super-8....only because there are no Ritz Carlton Hotels in the area! :roflblack:

OK...for those who don't know me...I usually sleep in the trunk of my Spyder when on trips...or is that, when I'm tripping?! ;)

I attended the first two SpyderFests...they were both EXCELLENT! I can't wait to see what the most excellent people of Cuba do this time! :2thumbs:

I guess I'll have to act respectable this time since "Some Girl" will be there watching me! :banghead:

I automatically add anyone who has paid so there may be some non-forum members listed (hopefully they will be SpyderLovers members soon tho!)

I have also listed forum members who have committed, but not yet paid. But most have taken advantage of the early bird discount!

So this should be a pretty comprehensive list.

Mainly just for fun purposes anyway so everyone can check it out periodically!! ;)

We also have a master list of paid registrations separate from this list.

What is cool is that I work emails (or try to) every evening and it is exciting to see the list continue to grow. Gonna be a great event!! :)

Hello Everyone

The news tonight is that Murphy Brown has volunteered to help all of us SpyderLovers looking for lodging in and around Cuba! :firstplace:

Being the "go getter" that she is :bowdown: Murphy Brown has volunteered to call all of the local hotels and or campgrounds to find out what the room or campsite availability is for the days of the event. She will also try to find out if there is any special SpyderFest pricing going on! What's more, she will be doing this on regular weekly intervals until the week of the event! :doorag:

This will be SUCH a big help to everyone because they will know that they can come to this thread and see a weekly update by Murphy Brown regarding lodging.

I am not sure yet what night she will be doing this, but I think she will be doing it on or about the same day each week, so you can all be looking for that. In addition, we will follow up her post with a weekly email update to everyone on the SpyderFest email list, so you can all stay updated with the most current info!

SpyderFest is truly a grassroots event for SpyderLovers BY SpyderLovers!:yes::yes:

THANK YOU SO MUCH Murphy Brown!!!:clap::clap::spyder::clap::clap::clap:

Should be very easy to do.
Just highlight the list in the first post, copy that to your clipboard and paste into Word or some other program and then sort ascending. Done!

The problem is that it changes daily, so I don't know how much good it will be???? ;)

For more information, visit: www.spyderfest.com/Visitors.html (http://www.spyderfest.com/Visitors.html) Looks like they have several rooms available now! There are also some houses available if you want to stay with a group and split the cost.

Guys can a make a real suggestion:dontknow:.....move to a closer hotel at least sullivannojoke St.clair is a pretty good haul, and would cut you short on some of the fun:gaah: Sullivan has better and nicer hotels and is only 23 miles st.clair is closer to almost 40 miles, we have a ton of stuff happing in the evening would be good to have you not having to drive so far  Besides Jim, I may need a body guard and you would be to far away to:joke: Seriously Get a hotel in sullivan MO or west St.james or Rolla all way closer....theres alot of cops toward St.clair:(

Yep, or even Wildwood Springs in Steelville. Only 7 miles away.

I just noticed that... I know last year we did it on Friday (and now we are doing Friday Night Lights which I'm looking forward to:popcorn:) and now I don't see Spyders on the Green anywhere. I thought that was a good cause and had lots of fun rYding the :spyder2: on the cart paths! Just wanted to know if there is an update.

Hey Erick
We haven't finalized the details yet. But Friday Night Lights has some very exciting potential to be the big night of the event. We did have to cut Spyders On The Greens, however we will have a fund raising component built into Friday Night Lights that we think even more people will participate and have fun in!

We are having a planning meeting this weekend and hope to have more info to release after that!

Can anyone tell me if there is going to be any vendors that do graphic work, pin striping? Things such as that. All the big rallies I go to have them and as I am getting a nice new shiny paint job I was wanting some accent work done  I wouldn't mind spending my money with someone who supports spyders. But, if not I will need to find another option. Thanks for any info guys.

This week was the first noticeable change in housing...there is starting to be many more inquiries, reservations made and a couple cancellations. So if you are thinking I really should make that reservation I would encourage you to do just that. Most facilities are open to a reasonable (48-72 hr) cancellation without penalty. So JUST DO IT or else you will :banghead::banghead:

Sily, I wish I could answer that, I can't. We are still getting vendors in day by day. Maybe, what you'll find by the time that you get here, is that we have a great pinstriper. One of our main artist is Danny Ferris. I don't know if he does instant on stripes. He's a custom painter. It's still early, we might have some 'hands on guys' that can do that. I'm not in a position to promise you that there will be a pinstriper.

Sorry,

someone get a hold of Frogg Toggs, and see if they'll send a
SMART rep; a long with some merchandise. GOOD rain gear
is ALWAYS in demand... but usually never in enough supply.

I think they would be a great vendor that would appeal to
EVERYONE.

Does anyone have an idea how miles we will put on our Spyder's during Spyderfest. We have 2500 miles on ours and it has been away for the winter. I am kind of thinking of getting the oil changed before we go. We will be trailering our Spyder there. Even though we have had a very mild winter in Michigan I have lived here long enough to know we can leave and it be 50 degrees, four days later we can have six inches of snow and 20 degrees. See ya there, can't wait.

That will depend on what rides you go on while you're there. Some of the rides are a bit of a haul. Stevemac might be able to post the maps or at least the distances that were on last year's Spyderfest runs. I'm one of the ride captains for the Hermann Winery run and other than some of the vendor passport runs, it's the shortest, I believe. The Hermann run is somewhere around an hour and a half or so each way, I don't know the exact route or mileage yet since I haven't personally run it. We'll be doing mostly scenic, twisty routes. I recommend an oil change, but wait until you get here and have it done at Cowtown unless you do your own. Len is the most honest and reasonably priced Can Am shops I have had the pleasure to deal with. From here on out they are the only Spyder dealer that I will use and there are two other dealerships considerably closer. I hope that this helps.

We have not released the exact rides due to the fact we have not worked out all the details yet, hopefully after our March planning meeting we will have everything in place to start releasing the rides. I can tell you it looks like all rides will be between 100 and 200 miles each and led rides will be offered on three different days. This is in addition to the passport runs, so really how many miles you put on your Spyder will be up to you. Look forward to meeting you come April.

The SpyderFest or Bust shirt is separate from registration and just something we offered online to those who might want to wear them ahead of time and on the road to the event. Other shirt options will also be available for purchase (as will patches) at Cowtown during the event.

Just as last year, there is also an official event tshirt that will be in your goody bag that you pick up when you arrive at the event. This shirt is included in the price of registration.

Long way to answer I guess.
But they are two different shirts. Hope that helps Dan!

We really think everyone will like this new addition to SpyderFest and will enjoy the Spyder paint and LED shows and the gathering of friends. We think we should have a lot more news about this rolling out over the next few weeks as we get all the pieces put into place, so watch this post on SpyderLovers and also we will email you if you are on our list about any updates.

MoLee, the Ride Committee Master , is coming right along with the ride routes, maps and points of interest on each ride. These will be posted in your registration books when you arrive (((I CAN'T WAIT !!!))). The books will be finalized over the next few weeks and go to the printer at the last minute so we can keep any changes to a minimum.

SpyderLady Linda has ordered the limited edition SpyderFest Flags, and many, of you have ordered off the website already. If you haven't ordered, remember that these will be a one time run, so if you are interested, go to www.spyderfest.com (http://www.spyderfest.com) and order now. When they are gone, they are gone! :lecturef_smilie::roflblack:. For those of you who have already ordered, we expect the flags to arrive in the next couple of weeks and we will begin shipping AS SOON as they arrive.

Finally, in the posts above, we started a little competition among the states. MoLee had a great idea and asked if we could list the registered folks "by state" so you can see who all will be coming from your state. The rest of MoGang agreed and I will work on this over the weekend and post that listing for you all to see. That should generate some interest in each state and maybe help make it easier get some rYding groups together. You can see who is coming from your state and PM them if you want to get a group together. A lot of you are already doing that like the California, Wisconsin-Illinois, Ohio, and of course, Florida Express among others.

Starting to really get exciting now. We are only a little over 74 days out!

See you all soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::ye s::yes::yes::yes:

OK Folks, I am going to post this Un-Scientific, State-By-State listing with some qualifiers! :lecturef_smilie: :roflblack::roflblack:

Do not try to tie these numbers (in total) back to Post #1 in this thread and here is why.

I simply took the paid attendees (by state and SpyderLovers Handle) and sorted them. There are a number of attendees who had guests and simply listed "guest" in their registration as a SpyderLovers handle, so while we are very happy they are coming :2thumbs:, it wouldn't help much for you to be able to PM them here, so I did not include them. I also did not verify whether the handles were accurate or not, I just included what was entered on the order forms.

Also, there are some "proper names" in here that may or may not be SpyderLovers handles, so if a PM doesn't work, don't blame me I am just the messenger! :):D:)

This listing is merely for fun and for you to see if you can find others in your area that you may want to rYde in with. :ohyea::ohyea::ohyea:

If you see one that I have missed, just PM me and I'll add it, but don't quote the list or we will have mass confusion!

So having said that,,,, here you go and have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!:spyder::yes:

If you registered early, I may not have had your handles (we didn't require them in the online sales until a week into it) and like I said, this isn't anything scientific. I just pulled the ones that I had handles for in the database from the online sales. I'll be happy to edit and add you into the listing, but again, this was just for fun. It isn't intended to be an official list. :doorag:

Now that you mention it, Doc, Forrest and the others were early registrants too. So I'll fix them. There are also some others, so I'll pull those early ones and try to sort them out manually.

I was afraid that a listing like this might cause some confusion. Remember it was done quickly from the data I had and not a labor intensive process. nojoke

(((Oh, and you might want to edit your post and remove the quote. That is a long list to be quoting! LOL. :D)))

I know you were there last year and I'll add you to the "committed" list.
If you can get me a listing of our brother Canadians attending, I will be MORE than happy to put them on there! :doorag:

I mentioned this to FastFraser also.

Edit: Too Funny Nudle. You are listed twice. Both in TX from where your registration showed, and now in CANADA also. Better get yourself cloned bro.... ;)

Got it! :)

Next year the state by state should be easier. The online ordering didn't have a "required" field for the SpyderLovers handle until I added it a few weeks in, and as you know a meaningful and useful database has to be designed to collect data that is standardized and easily pulled. Early on, I had a free-form field. My bad! Since I am the one who set it up that way. But changed the field type a few weeks in.

But I think next year, instead of keeping a running total in the first post, I will keep the State-by-State and just a single total at the end. I think everyone likes the state by state??

You know how it is Erick, learning from mistakes and strive for continuous improvement!

Steve,

Being a former DBA / SA for a large company I can help if you would like more work on the database both to mine what you have and to augment the templates and information for the following year.

If you include handles from the forum, and the State you identify with as your "home", the data base can then just dump you a flat file that would be easy to maintain, and if its in webfriendly SQL tables, we could have a page that is dynamically queried when you click a link so you can get "up to the second" information, EVEN search to see if people are coming from your hometown.

Only issue would be if people did not want that information published, and that would be easy enough to put a checkbox for a binary field that would allow them to be excluded from searching by non-administrative users (aka the weblogin that generates data charts).

I think I have made this techy enough to stop now.

Anyway, if I can help, let me know.

SteveMac

You must be reading my mind. I actually "dabble" a bit in that area myself and was thinking the same thing for next year. Getting rid of the static data inputs and having it be more dynamic and linking to it.

I'll be sure to keep your talents in mind!!

Thanks bro! ;)

My route to and from Cuba. Going to get the Saddlesore 1000 (San Diego to Amarillo) and get the HAM (High Altitude Member) Patch (Minimum of 5 passes over 10000 feet in a calendar year). I will also be taking on the Million Dollar Hwy and the Moki Dugway on the way back, which were featured on Discovery Channel's "Deadly Roads". I can't wait! and ya, IDK how to make the pic bigger.

65 Days and Counting!! :yes::yes:

Can't wait to see everyone.

Friday Night Lights is going to be OFF THE HOOK!

Len and some "silent partners" are working on a couple of projects that should get everyone's interest.

And also the newest MoGang members Kevorama (Kevin and Joanie) tipped us off to a top-secret project they are working on, that will definitely get everyone's attention. :lecturef_smilie: But you GOTTA wait until the event to see what that is!

MoLee and the rest of the ride captains are getting the rides ironed out. I test drove one on Friday and at a couple of points along the way I think I saw my own tail lights!!! Yes, folks, that is TWISTY!

Lodging seems to be going well, (Thanks MurphyBrown for the updates!) and if you didn't catch it in her latest update, another hotel, Budget Lodging currently has rooms available. I'll be posting more about that later tonight.

Everyone  PRAY  for good weather so we can all enjoy the event to the fullest!

This may be too much work to coordinate but what I think would be really cool is to have a night time parade route with all the lit up Spyders!

If not a nite parade, how about a short ride on old route 66 ...

If gasoline goes to $5/gal I may not be going on any trips this summer even on the Spyder!

SpyderMeLucky and hubby

I also think Dave Bear and his sister Patti Bear will be there also. They're on a waiting list for Super 8.

Our reservations were made last year so hubby and I are all set. See you soon!

I've not been to the previous 'fests. How does this compare? Hope they can accommodate all those Spyders! 😃

If you could only go to one large event -------- THIS should be the ONE! I haven't been to any other event that compares to Spyderfest, and I've been to SITS, and two owners events. Just my opinion.
