I was counting on simply transferring California AAA to Texas but Texas aaa doesn't provide bike coverage. They referred me to an agency.
I was wondering which insurance company other ryders were using.

Thank you in advance.

Foremost Insurance is a strong Spyder insurer, Also I have Progressive and just had my bike totalled.. Progressive treated me extraordinary with the claim payment - and they fronted the money until they could collect from the at fault company.. P.S. I just got my renewal from progressive and after the accident (not my fault) they dropped rate 15%. They seem to drop it with each year of experience

Progressive treated me good also, after my Voyager was trashed last year. Flo didn't show up... but the appraiser went the extra mile for us.

Thank you and called progressive and they quoted $3150 per year for full coverage ...
I am paying $840 with aaa. Quote was for California, for comparison purpose where I don't need motorcycle endorsement for spyder.
It doesn't make sense and agent was familiar with spyder.

That is insane... I just got my renewal for $620 for the year and that include 250K/500K Bodily Injury and 250K/500K uninsured motorist in addition to collision , comp, and 100K prop damage.. with progressive.. I knew California was a dangerous place but I think I might call a different progressive agent to see if first one was on drugs..

I have Formost Ins. full coverage $500 deductible on collision, no medical coverage and I pay $218 a year but in Minnesota we only ride for about 7 or 8 months.

without the uninsured motorist , mine would be $203 but In florida yu have to insure yourself against people who don't have insurance or have way to little or you are in big trouble if they injure you..

Tell the Progressive folks it's not a Massaratti (sp?) Spyder, it's a CanAm.

I did get a better quote from GEICO this year and switched. Had Progressive for 9 years and they raised a young guy like me (74) after no claims at all. Of course, I have been creamed by a local cage, Dodge Ram - didn't cost Progressive anything. Boy, they are really big trucks in the mirror when the grill is 2 feet away!

We have Progressive for Spydee and its $102. It has Liability to Others, Comprehensive, Accessory Coverage and Roadside Assistance.

Wondering if the $3150 quote from Progressive was including other vehicles too?

My Premium with Progressive went from $78 Liability only on 08 SM5, to 1600.00 for full coverage on 2010 RT. I was referred to Ball Insurance and insured with them for $235 full coverage, 100,000 Liability, $500 Ded. Comp & Collision. They are heavy in Texas and are licensed in about 33 states.

I am with progressive also- about 400 a year for full coverage. Sounds like Tx has high insurance rates. When I moved to FL from VA, my insurance rates rose also.

We use Allstate for coverage on our Spyders and feel that the price is reasonable.

I had no previous need for motorcycle insurance until this October when I bought a 2010 Can Am Spyder from an individual. I went on-line to request quotes from Geico, Progressive, and Foremost.

GEICO was best at $729 for a year.

I waited a couple of weeks and got a mailer from GEICO asking for a "second chance."

Now, I have GEICO for $670 a year. Full coverage in Texas. :)

The $60-$70 per month seems to be the ball park with most companies. Your original quote for about $261 a month seems awful high--I would re-check that with another agent.

I have all my insurance with State Farm and I am in the above ballpark.

We have had progressive in Southesat Texas, first year on the RTs was $900, I was not happy, but sinc then last year went down to $600 and our renewal this month my 2008 Venture went down to $198 and the 2010 Spyder down to $490 , I think Progressive does reduce price for experience, they sent us a survey , we have been with them over 10 yrs. , in the survey they asked miles ridden per year on each bike. My Venture has 110,000mi. and my wifes RTs has 44,000mi. my agent told us not to fudge these numbers that Progressive would not punish us for safe experience I guess he is right.

I renewed my policy with cal. Aaa and they dropped the rate to 668 from 840 a year and I expect it would be even lower in Texas than Los Angeles.

I don't know what's with progressive. My guess is that they don't recognize that I don't need motorcycle endorsement for spyder in California so their system is spitting out this rediculous rate for me as a unlicensed rider.

Just switched from Foremost to Allstate to keep all policies with the same agency. Both Foremost and Allstate were within $1 of each other at $325/year. I only have one year rising experience and this was for full coverage ($250/$500).

For you Michiganders...I am through State Farm and I pay 650$/yr and when I tell them I put it in storage they give me roughly 100$ back depending on the time it is in storage. So it nets at roughly 550$/yr. Something to consider.
