If you have to do some "bush body shop" repairs & you have to readjust drive belt tension without the use of a belt tension meter,is there a way to "ball park" the tension?I know it shouldn't be "banjo string" tight or hanging loose.(somewhere in between).Could you use a string straighy edge or?Would the best case scenario be better loose or tight?
thanks for advise

While at my dealer not to long ago I talked to the tech guy and he had a Spyder apart, a complete engine tear down out of warranty because the guy did his own belt tension and over tightened it and took out the sprocket bearings. If you do your own then I would suggest a loose setting with Capt Jim's belt tensioner taking up the slack on the underside. Good luck.
