I have found the Facebook forum to be very helpful as there are ladies that have a lot of experience in owning, caring for and riding techniques for their Spyders. I do not post much, as I am fairly new to it, but check it each day for new posts. Thanks!

Hello Everyone. I am a new spider rider as I just purchased a 2013 RT/S. I am new to riding too. Have always wanted to ride but being a mother, wife and having an active career took me away from some of the fun things in life. As you all know, you can only do so much! Now I have finally retired from my career, my kids are grown (now have grand babies) and my husband and I are on our own! It is now time for ME! I will be taking a 3 wheel basic rider class so I can have the proper drivers license. I split my time between Maggie Valley, NC and Sanibel, Fl. Both awesome places to ride. Would love any suggestions, help in learning the handle the bike! Will check ya'll out on Facebook and friend there too. :clap:

First of all, this post makes no sense to me "insulting in common in usage males". Huh? However, if we were Women on Spyders, the acronym would be WOS, and none of us are wussies!! If you really knew some of us, you would see that we are 'girls at heart', enjoying our lives through ryding and being there for each other. There have been no complaints about any of us being part of GOS.

This is one of those 'politically correct' complaints that has no merit for the members of GOS.

In regard to the "girl" comments, I see that it can be derogatory or as a term of endearment, but it all depends on the situation and the relationship with the person using the terms. A "girls night out" doesn't bother me but, at 60, I don't respond well to someone referring to me in the third person using that word.

I was given the nick name " Big Girl" when I was in my 20's. That name was given to me by my team mates, but that was years ago and in a different lifetime.

I just purchased my first Spyder. Actually my first of any type of bike, 3-wheeled or otherwise. I don't even have it yet because I have to take the Riders Safety Course where I purchased it at. I just came back from Sturgis. I flew up to Oregon and a friend picked me up and we took off to Sturgis the next day on his Harley. It was a 3 day ride. Regardless that popping alot of Ibuprofen every day and that it was a Harley I was on, I enjoyed every minute of it !!! I'm almost 48 so I'm not as young as I used to be.

Nothing can compare to the experience of being on a bike in the open air where you can feel the air, smell it, seeing everything around you. It was sooo awesome! I live in Houston, Tx. and as soon as I get this baby home, I want to start going places with it. I hope that I can find a group of more mature folks that will be fun to ride with. I want to stay around here first to get used to riding in traffic, etc. I don't really even know how to operate it yet other than what the sales guy showed me, so it will take some getting used to. I just requested to join the Face Book group as well. I may start a Meetup Group for my area. There's only one in Houston and it doesn't look like there's much activity. I'm afraid to join any other Motorcycle groups because I don't know if they take the Spyder seriously. Has anyone else experienced that reaction? Also, have any of you gone to a biker type bar and experienced any negative reactions because you're on a Spyder? Just curious.

That could be it. I know they posted on the site that when they go to check, if they don't see pics of Spyders or something related to riding they can't tell if it is a spam request. As my public facing FB page doesn't have a Spyder pic that may have been why mine was delayed.

Send me a PM with your Facebook name and I will go post over there and see if one of the admins will see it.

There is a forum similar to spyderlovers that was not widely accepted by the ladies. If you are trying to join it I believe you first must be a member on the Facebook page as you need your GOS member # for the forum. Pam, with this (GOS) being a ladies only FB page, many women feel more comfortable asking questions regarding their Spyder than they don't on an open forum. We have also become a big family. A couple of years ago, I took my first long solo ride that I called my Meet My Systers Adventure. I was on the road almost a month riding from city to city, and visiting and sometimes even staying with dozens of these nice ladies that I had never met in person. We rode, we chatted, we laughed. I made many lifetime friends. It was a trip that I will never forget of over 3500 miles. This year I took a ride out to Colorado from Florida (6500 miles) and it was an amazing experience. All of this happened, because of GOS and another Facebook page, FEMS (Females Enjoying Motorcycling on Spyders).

My friend, Sara, 4uising (on this forum), is starting up an east coast chapter for Ladies National Chapter through Spyder Ryder's of America (http://www.spyderryderofamerica.com/ladies-national-chapter/). We are still in the infant stages and are mostly in the Northern Virginia area but we hope to expand and create a FB page.

After riding on the back i decided i'd like my own so we bought a 2014 RSS with 194 miles on the odometer, i really love it. I posted on his site for now. I tried to join but because I do not own mine yet because I am waiting for my disability to be approved I was denied so now I won't request again. I will learn from this site everything I need to know. I do think it would of been interesting to learn from just women when getting ideas what model to buy seeing i have lost all feeling in my right leg but I will keep learning from this site. Don't let a little thing like this initial rejection stop you Arkridia; what with your back surgery & all the things you'll have to go thru just to get around & do whatever you want to do, a knock back like this now just because you don't yet have a Spyder is really only minor on the overall scheme of things! Yes, you could quite possibly consider it petty on their behalf, but hey, who will lose out the most if you don't have another go at joining later?? Altho they might well lose out a little by never having the pleasure of your company or friendship... right now, it looks like in the long term, the biggest loser if you don't persist will be you. :gaah:

So suck this one up, take it for what it really is atm - just a minor stumble along the road, and go out there & get your Spyder & THEN join!! You will almost certainly benefit the most in the long run, and seriously, as time progresses you WILL get bigger & far more hurtful set-backs, especially now that your mobility isn't quite up to the same standard as that of most others!! Some people seem to take joy in making life hard for others by exercising whatever tiny bit of power over you/your circumstances they may have, and if you show the slightest sensitivity or difficulty with achieving something they can & you can't or that you might have difficulty with whatever, they'll pile it on!! And sometimes, that will mean you end up with some seriously BIG fights that you have no option but to winor knuckle under!! So save your strength for the big ones, & let the little stuff like this one go.... you are better than that, don't let this bring you down to that petty level - brush this re-buff off get yourself sorted & ryding your Spyder, and then join - and maybe even work to change whatever rule stopped you joining when you first needed their support from within! :thumbup:

And don't forget to show us pics when you DO get your Spyder!! Have you checked out the Enabled Spyder Ryders section yet?!? Lots of good ideas for brackets & frame carriers etc in there, as well as intro's from a whole heap of us who have managed to overcome a few different challenges than the 'run of the mill' Spyder Ryders, and a lot of support & help on tap if needed too! :thumbup: Enjoy!! :yes::ohyea::2thumbs:

Thank you for responding I guess you are right with everything going on I did take it personally. I have checked out the enabled rider and Mike even offered to make me a frack for my walker once I get my spyder if I am not able to use a cane by then. I still have not made up my mind on what model but I am leaning towards an st or rs. I know I will not be able to afford a rt. Also, when I test drove the rt I had a harder time looking behind me, maybe that will change with neck surgery but for now this is what I am looking for. My hearing will be within 9 months according to the paperwork I received today. I will continue reading as much as I can on this forum to learn more about my options and maybe when I get my settlement someone on this forum will have one for sale.

Tammy, I have sent your name to the moderator on Girls on Spyders Facebook page and she said that she went back several months and does not see a request from you. You will need to ask to join again and she will approve it.
