The other thread was getting a little long and the information was getting a little lost, so I wanted to repost everything all together right here. Here is the information I have so far:

It is official, Aug. 12, 13 & 14 will be 3 Great Lakes in 3 Great Days!! The Cedars Motel is our host motel but they are currently sold out. Here is the updated Motel info for this ride. It appears we are getting quite a group for this. I am so excited.

The Cedars, our host motel is booked. The back up is next door and is called the Northernaire their number is 906-643-8704. There are two motels across the street from our motel and they are the Pines 906-643-9250 and the Bear Cove 906-643-8910. I don't know anything about these other places but I wanted to give some alternatives. Also The Village Inn (where we are having dinner on Friday) has a hotel and said they are great rooms and would love to have us there as well. Village Inn phone is 906-643-9511.

Friday, Aug. 12th. Meet a Nord Ride parking lot 7415 Enterprise Parkway, Mount Morris, MI 48458 (just off of I-75) at 9:00 am. We will be leaving by 9:30 am. Here is the link for the ride to Mackinaw City.Ride from Nord Ride to the Bridge
(http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Mount+Morris,+7415+Enterprise+Parkway,+ MI+48458&daddr=44.68954,-83.2888+to:Mackinaw+City,+MI&hl=en&ll=43.794889,-83.171997&spn=2.113311,4.75708&sll=44.304196,-82.661133&sspn=2.107084,4.784546&geocode=FU3lkQIdEOUB-ynfE9hQ04QjiDH-6jMeTvpfCQ%3BFYToqQIdIB0J-ynLvYVHAV0niDFmq2H7TLI6JA%3BFVuCugIdlirz-imDralAOYs1TTF6eswgq3HH6g&mra=dpe&mrsp=1&sz=8&via=1&dirflg=ht&z=8) We will plan on meeting on the South East side of the bridge in the parking lot for a group ride across the bridge at approx 3:30 pm. If you need a meet up along this route, let me know so we can plan a stop to pick you up. I prefer that any extra stops coincide with gas stops, so we will try to arrange our pick up points accordingly.

After we gather on the south side of the bridge we will cross as a group and head to the motel. Bridge to Cedars Motel (http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Mackinaw+City,+MI&daddr=45.87531,-84.729+to:2040+I-75+Business+Loop+St.+Ignace&hl=en&sll=45.880329,-84.693432&sspn=0.064054,0.149517&geocode=FVuCugIdlirz-imDralAOYs1TTF6eswgq3HH6g%3BFW4AvAIdWCPz-ikx7qkoZvY1TTFXfq3IAksNpg%3BFSVrvAId9wXz-inZAc7tyfc1TTH0LzFzpWdOog&mra=dpe&mrsp=1&sz=13&via=1&z=13)

Everyone has time to visit, rest, clean up or whatever. We can all gather and head to dinner on Friday Night at the Village Inn. They are saving the whole back room for us so we can all be seated together, around 6:00p.m. Here is the link for the menu Village Inn Menu (http://www.viofmackinac.com/Assets/2011/visi-menu-may-2011.pdf)The rest of the night is yours to do as you please. The Motel has a bon fire every night if we would like or head to the casino or just ride around.

Sat. morning, I would like to be ready to head out around 9:00 am. Here is the Sat. map route. St. Ignace/Sault Ste. Marie/Paradise/Tahquamenon Falls/St. Ignace (http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=St+Ignace,+MI&daddr=Cedarville,+MI+to:Detour+Village+Inn,+De+Tou r+Village,+MI+to:46.00437,-83.98844+to:Goetzville,+MI+to:Stalwart,+MI+to:Saul t+Ste.+Marie,+MI+to:46.419163,-84.423139+to:46.45728,-84.61421+to:Paradise,+MI+to:Newberry,+MI+to:Engadi ne,+MI+to:St.+Ignace,+MI&hl=en&ll=46.046548,-85.643921&spn=2.032086,4.75708&sll=45.989329,-84.946289&sspn=1.022852,2.392273&geocode=FVDmuwId7Cfz-inV8p5PGvY1TTEgQFswez5Ndg%3BFfnfvQIdsbj4-ikTaaoDadk1TTGrbslQPUeazg%3BFYjJvQIdn8H_-iGtqF7uzwc8uSlRFbVU4Cg0TTEGi4asw09NTA%3BFZL4vQIdKH D--ikvONrupSs0TTHMIZV2C4w_9g%3BFVvKvgIdstr8-imD9u_vsng2TTH-IWAaXbeKcg%3BFZtmvwId0p76-imD9u_vsng2TTG0x3uFlQM5iQ%3BFUR2xQIdG_74-imlDjIRezk2TTEHXLFoa5RYmg%3BFdtMxAIdHc73-ikxwW7JSjw2TTGAKKn-s0mB0Q%3BFcDhxAIdvuP0-im7_dne2SA2TTHTbFhs4N8XRg%3BFcJ6xwId7W3u-inFCjc8kbZJTTGlBNOvGY8Zhw%3BFTZSwwIdSTrn-ikP0M3SK3JJTTEtU4AIV7ov9g%3BFTOvvwIdhkrm-ilxSCpd0X1JTTHjVsAnvC1_kQ%3BFVDmuwId7Cfz-inV8p5PGvY1TTEgQFswez5Ndg&mra=ls&via=3,7,8&dirflg=h&z=8)
I plan on giving everyone some time to visit at the Sault and also at the Falls, probably have lunch in Paradise. That is yet to be determined. This gives us a full day of riding and some breath taking sites. My plans for dinner on this night cook out on the BBQ grill right there at the Motel and relax around the fire. Since we all have little refrigerators in our rooms, I plan to have gone to a store on Friday and already have my steaks or burger or whatever on hand. Once again, the evening is yours to enjoy in whatever way you find is right for you. This is a casual vacation and just a nice way to hang out with others. Everyone is always welcome to do their own thing. These are my tentative plans. You don't have to plan to cook out also, you can go where ever and eat. I just like to have a base itinerary to share with others.

Sunday Morning, I plan on leaving around 9:00 or 9:30 (maybe later as it doesn't take that long to get to Legs Inn) Legs Inn (St. Ignace/Sault Ste. Marie/Paradise/Tahquamenon Falls/St. Ignace) and heading home on the west side of the state. Here is the route and it will take us through the Tunnel of Trees as well. Sunday Ride Home I think it would be pretty cool to have lunch at the Legs Inn if it isn't too crowded when we arrive in Cross Village. The Sunday Ride home link (http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=St.+Ignace,+MI&daddr=45.7456229,-84.8033655+to:45.5187079,-85.1072135+to:Harbor+Springs,+MI&hl=en&ll=45.585452,-84.993324&spn=0.128065,0.297318&sll=45.53882,-85.023193&sspn=0.128893,0.299034&geocode=FVDmuwId7Cfz-inV8p5PGvY1TTEgQFswez5Ndg%3BFdYFugId2wDy-ikzqWvWoXVKTTGBmLGX073xKg%3BFXOPtgId813t-ilBA4UAvmFKTTGOKwl-lTSzsw%3BFXw7tQIdASDv-ilZ8F1LaYZKTTEljK75kLwpSA&mra=dpe&mrsp=2&sz=12&via=1,2&dirflg=ht&z=12)

Then alas, our official journey will end in Harbor Springs. From there we will all go our separate ways towards our various homes, having once again created some wonderful riding memories.

As I have tried to state for everyone, this is a vacation. This is not a mandatory itinerary. This is the weekend I have planned out and if it works for you to join us, that would be fantastic. If you just want to come up and stay with us and do your own thing on ride days, that is fine too. The only change I see right now, is I may shorten the ride up to the Sault to give more time there. Saturday is a pretty full day already.

If I'm there you can be sure that Geri will come along. We're thinking of camping with our motorhome in St. Ignace. Anyone else planning on camping, and anyone have a recommendation for a campground?

I don't have any recommendations but here are a few links I looked up. All are within 5 miles of our Motel

http://www.lakeshoreparkcampground.com/

http://www.michigandnr.com/parksandtrails/Details.aspx?type=SPRK&id=427

Man looking up all these campgrounds made me want to camp again. But not until we get a bigger tent and better gear. I hope you find a good spot.

After reading the menu from the Village Inn, you may be cooking out at the motel by yourself on Saturday night. They have quite a few things that sound good. :D

Nothing says we have to cook out on Saturday. We can go there two nights in a row. I am all for it. It is a pretty good looking menu and reasonably priced too.

That would be great to meet with you at any point in the trip. Can't wait to meet you. If you don't catch us at the bridge we will be in St. Ignace at the Cedars and then the Village Inn for dinner.

Thanks, we'll check them out when we're back in town. Right now we're hoping to be at Glacier National Park tomorrow, spend 7-8 days there, and then head into Canada. No camping, no motorhome on this trip - just the Spyder and trailer. Ask us some time about the joys of looking for a motel in North Dakota when floods are imminent! lol

Glad your trip is going well, Dan. We have fought the accommodations game here in the mountains, too, a few nights. I didn't realize you were "roughing it" this trip. :D Still trying to persuade Nancy to cross the Bridge to make the August get-together. Stay tuned.........

Dear DandB
Just 37 days to go:
I just read that the Mackinaw Bridge can with stand 150 MPH winds----
I was wondering if I should bring my own tie down straps.
I bet Scottie already plans to bring enough for everyone.

Sorry, if we make it, the tie-downs will be for Nancy, so she doesn't chicken out and hitchhike home before she has to cross the bridge.

I've got a reservation at the Cedar Motel for this event if anybody needs a room...Another one that I can't make because I'll be recovering <hopefully> from my bypass that's being done in July...This really sucks but gotta get the plumbing fixed if I'm gonna be doing any riding in the future..Send me an PM and I'll call the Cedar and confirm the room transfer...Meanwhile I'll sit back and pout that I can't attend any of these great events this summer:gaah:

I can't wait to cross The Bridge on my Spyder. I have been over that bridge many times but never on a motorcycle.

Here's a look at crossing in the winter. Sometimes you can see and sometimes not so much.

Later this week I will be posting a tentative ride and stop route from Nord Ride parking lot in Mt Morris, MI to the Mackinaw Bridge. This is the Lake Huron ride up to the Bridge and will include a couple of stops to pick people up along the way. I am going to do my best to time this with gas stops and will take into account people that are driving the RT.

So happy to have you join us. No, there is no registration fee. This is just a vacation and a ride with friends. I will add you to the updated list. If you are coming through Canada toward Flint on I-69 through Port Huron, there is a Comfort Inn just east of Flint in a town called Davison. It is about 6-7 miles from our place and you could meet us for the ride Friday morning on the way to Nord Ride. If you are coming up from the south, there are a few choices on the I-75 Corridor. If you get off on Holly Rd just south of Flint by Genesys Hospital, there is an AmerInn and a Holiday Inn Express. North of Flint, just off Miller Rd. on Austin Parkway there are about 3 different places, I will have to look to see which ones are there. Anyway, let me know if I can be of any help.

I added my wife. I wasn't sure she was going but she is in as long as Joe doesn't talk about riding in cold weather with heated gear.

I am not sure of our plans yet as we are taking our vacation the week after the ride and we may be staying in the UP for a couple of extra days to do a little sight seeing. I want to see some of the places I always visit in winter to see what it looks like not covered in snow.

Aug. 12th is sneaking up on us quickly everyone. I was wondering if I could get a shout out from everyone that is planning on meeting us at Nord Ride for the start of this ride. I don't want to leave anyone behind and if I know who is planning on being there, we are more likely to prevent that from happening. I would like to plan the meetup for 0900 so that we can be on the road promptly at 0930. We will be picking up Jason as we drive by M46 & M83 intersection. We will be picking up Kim as we drive by Beaver & M-13 intersection. These will not be true stops, just pick ups. We will stop for a quick lunch and fuel in Tawas where we will also pick up Buck and his wife. I plan on stopping at the Subway but there is a Burger King and McDonalds within a mile of the Subway as well as fuel. Would like to keep this stop to 1/2 hour. There will be a couple of scenic stops along the way for photo ops as well. Would like to be to the south east side of the Bridge by 1530-1600 to meet any other SpyderLovers that want to all cross the Big Mac together. Please give us til 1600 as a group ride on side roads always seems to take a little longer. If any one has any questions, please just PM or give me a call. I can't wait everyone.

Right now from I-69 & I-75 you should not be affected. The bridge going west was closed but has since reopened. When you get off the exit at Mt. Morris Rd. just turn right and just past the gas station/truck stop turn right on Exchange Drive. Nord Ride is down less than 1/4 mile on your right.

Hi Deb,

Ken Tompkins and my wife and I will be joining you at Nord Ride for the start of the ride at 9 A.M. or before. Looking forward to that weekend.....can't wait.

Jim that is so cool. Can't wait to meet you all again too. So where are you staying on Thursday night. I have a few other out of towners that are looking for where to stay and wondered what others were doing.

I know you are staying at the Tradewinds in St. Ignace. Ken told me that was recommended after some of the others were sold out. I hear it is just down the road from where we are staying. I was wondering about the night before you meet us at Nord Ride. Will you just be riding in that morning or are you staying somewhere near or in Flint?

I am planning to be near Nord Thursday night so I am ready and waiting 9am Friday morning.
I am clueless about where to stay------but someone will have better plans then I have. Just let me know where everyone is staying and I'll call for resevations.

This ride cannot come soon enough-------
Its my guess before heading home Sunday we will be making plans to get together again soon.

There are a number of choices of places to stay on Thursday night if you are staying over near Flint before the meet up on Friday morning. Just north of I-69 and off the Miller Rd Exit on I-75 is a Comfort Inn, Super 8 and Red Roof Inn. For a little bit nicer places, just south of I-69 on the I-75/23 exchange at Hill Rd or Gateway Center, you have a Holiday Inn, Residence Inn and Marriott. If you want to continue east of Flint on I-69 about 6 miles from our house is a Comfort Inn in Davison MI and we could all ride up to Nord Ride together. This Comfort Inn is just north off of Exit 145 on I-69. This Comfort Inn has better reviews than the one in Flint and has plenty of places around it to eat as well. If I was going to pick one, I think I would lean toward the Comfort Inn in Davison. There is a Baymont on I-75 off Pierson Rd. I don't know a lot about this hotel but the area is a bet iffy. You don't want to be on the east side of the expressway exit at night over there, that is for sure. If you stay on the west side, you should be okay and there are some places to eat there as well. A little further south of I-69 just off I-75 at the Holly Rd. exit there are two decent places also. Here you will find a Holiday Inn Express and another Comfort Inn. This is about 8 miles the other direction from our house with easy access to the expressway. Just let us know where everyone is staying and we can try to get together for dinner on Thursday night if it works out. We did tell Gene afterall that we need to get him a real Coney Dog.

I think you should call Kelly and get her to go with you.

Also, if anyone needs a place to stay either Thursday or Sunday night you are more than welcome to stay with us. We are only about 2 hours from the starting point for Friday morning.

Thanks for the offer, but I most likely will come across the UP along Lake Michigan then join you at the bridge (I'd cross it twice!) if all goes well. I did think about checking with Kelly, maybe I will. I'll keep you posted.

We will be running up US-127 from Harrison, so if anyone is coming that way and wants to join up, lets us know. It's going to be fun:2excited:

Well I got a room at the Comfort Inn----I may have misunderstood-----she asked if I was a senior??
I graduated High School a long time ago-----but I said yes anyway. So she gave me the $84.00 a night rate.
I get two Queen size beds----If I want 1 king size bed its $93.00-------I'm stumped why its more for one bed than two beds.
This is going to be and adventure and I can't wait to learn more Michigan customs.

This is the same thing I told Buck (DragonSnake), they are coming that way too. Tawas City is a great place to meet you. It is an excellent place for a fuel stop from where we are starting for folks driving an RT. There is a Subway just north of the intersection of 55 & 23, I for on will need a quick bite to eat (diabetic) and that is the closest to fast food I want to tackle. There is also a McDonalds and Burger King within a mile for others that don't want Subway. I figure we will be there around noon based on Google Maps times. ( allow some leeway here please) So we can plan on that. I will have my cell phone with me as well. My number is 810-625-8081 and I can receive calls while driving with my Sena unit, provided I have a signal. Looking forward to the trip and seeing everyone.

Which two nights? Friday night in St. Ignace for anyone who wanted to join us was in the initial post to this thread. Its called the Village Inn. Depending on how the Village Inn was on Friday, I was thinking of eating there Saturday night as well. The menu looks good and has a nice variety. However, as Debbie stated in one of her posts, we are doing things in a relaxed manner with no strict itinerary. If you (or I) felt like eating McDonalds on Saturday night while others found someplace else, that would be fine. Last time we did this event, the hotel owners let people use their BBQ grill and cook burgers, dogs, steaks, etc. on Saturday so that is another option if anyone wanted to buy a few groceries and cook out.

I was just thinking that I might want to go across the bridge Saturday night and eat at the Bridgeview Diner (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bridgeview-Diner/108952615863462) since I had a good time the last time Debbie and I ate there.

EDIT: After going through his Facebook page, I am officially going to eat at the Bridgeview Diner on Saturday.

Been fighting an infection for a week now, hoping to get better by Friday so Devl and I can go on this ride. We may be forced to meet folks up there on Friday. I have been following the thread all week didn't want to but in but . If your looking for a place to eat on Sat. in Newberry check out Tmber Charlies just as your coming into town on 123 cross the tracks and look right.

On Sat. evening dinner the Mackinaw Grill is great for a sit down but for the best burger in the State go to Clydes Drive Inn just west of the Bridge on 2, Big C burger is a must for the "hearty" eater.

Already have a planned stop in Tawas so that would be best. It limited the stops that way and gets us north just a little quicker. I figure we will already have a few pull offs just to show off the state for our out of towners.

OOOOOOPS-----a natural retiree error----six Saturdays and one Sunday. So mid week is a bit confusing.
Game plan is :
Spend Wednesday night in Saint Joesph. Take a leisurely ride up the west cost until Flint is due East then take all back roads to Davidson arrive around noon.
I am ready -----packed and loaded the Spyder this afternoon.
Now I am just watching the clock.

I can not wait for everyone to get here and then the ride north. I get home from work Thurs. morning about 10:30 am I plan on doing my workout and then taking a little nap so I can meet everyone for dinner Thurs night. If it isn't too late and the weather is good, we can all come back to the house for a Bon Fire that evening to relax before the morning ride. The weather has been great, not too hot during the day and great sleeping weather at night. We have had some rain but I do believe by the weekend and then heading north we are going to be missing anything else. I so need a trip with no rain.

Grand River Dr./Riverview Dr. are really nice from GR to Ionia. M-21 isn't bad from Ionia to the greater Flint area. And be sure to plug DAVISON in your GPS not Davidson or you may never get to the right place. If you are coming anywhere near Lowell we'd love to have you stop by for lunch or a refreshment of your choice. We are two hours to Davison via the expressway. My cell is 616-340-9895.
