We started out just going to place a few accent lights . Then it turned into a "What can I create with a little time and some spare material in the barn..." I got my hands on some leds from a local shop who had been sitting on them and :dontknow:not selling. So I grabbed an arm load and the "How to DIY Manual"...:gaah:..What do you mean take off the mirror to get underneath. After 1 day and pulling off parts for the 2nd time because I forgot to put something on before the next... I got a few LED's installed... I know now why they charge so much in labor to do anything. :roflblack:"It's to rent storage for all the parts scattered all over..

Nice!

Just be aware that blue lights in the front of a vehicle might get you a ticket if you use them while driving.

Looks really good though!

We had been shopping around looking for floorboards, after picking myself up off the floor from the prices:roflblack:, I decided I need to get out in the barn and get creative:pray:. I was in the process of making a bagger out of my Electra Glide. So Passenger boards were available. I used a piece of 3/16 3x3 angle and cut it 1 1/2" wide. I drilled a 1/2 hole and bolted it to the motor mount using the already available bolt. I then took a piece of 1/4" angle and ripped with a bansaw 2 pieces to extend out past the body. Welded the second piece to achieve the rise required. Drilling a 1/4" hole to bolt the Harley Board. "Note" Harley has a pin on the back of the mount that has to be ground off to fit flush. After being in use now for several uses, I see now that a small gusset need to be welded from the angle to the flatbar. All that is left now is weld out the work, grind off the sharp edges, buff it and paint. Best of all is the fact that the board can be unbolted and placed back on the bagger when a passenger {Granddaughter} needs to ride.
I'm sorry I can't place a material price. Passenger boards can be picked up at swap meets for around $40.00. Scrap yards sell angle and flatbar buy the pound. Welders vary in price if you don't have one or know one..But if you spend more than $75.00 total, someone is getting to you..

In Oklahoma the blue lights are legal as long as they are not flashing, found that out the hard way,,,, i lost a $100 dollar bet, an OHP officer settled it.

I ran the amber on the bottom skidplate exsposed. All the blue are mounted inside and only illuminates out the holes. I just added HID lights, when there on you don't see anything but headlights. And you are correct about the flashing. No Red/Blue flashing. I ride with the PGR and we're allowed to run white and amber flashing..

Great work wirth your projects.
Don't even think about coming to GA. Blue lights were outlawed about 4 or 5 years ago. I didn't get a ticket, but was stopped by a State Trooper who suggested I take the stop light covers:yikes: off my HD Dyna. The lenses had little round blue dots in the middle. I thanked the nice man and did as he suggested.

Do you mean they want allow ground effect lighting:gaah:. I do know that they frown on neon lighting under cars around here:lecturef_smilie:. They say it's a distraction. I say it's recognition. "I saw him":yikes:.. instead of "I Didn't See Him".. The good thing is they are all on a seperate curciut and toggled so they can be turned off in a flash of a red light:pray:..

Each state makes it's own laws. It's up to us to know them when we visit. Just think if we only had to follow our own state laws!! Helmet no helmet Can use or can't use radar detectors. to name a few. At least the feds control some of it otherwise we wouldn't travelling state to state like we do. Imagine going thru customs for every state you travel to. :gaah:

I don't think there against the law to have. They started out and are still used for parking lot get-togethers and see who is Kewl! But it is mainly at the discretion of the LEO who is on duty..But I personally feel as long as they don't plhash, then it should be jusss fine..

I installed new HID lights. While taking the headlight housing out, I found a vacant plug not being used. So I started digging, seems it's for the blue 5led's on the Limited. I removed the cover plate, found a stem located in the middle with 2 posts on each side. I drilled out the center post w/3/16 bit to run wire. Drilling a 1/32 hole in one of the side post I installed a 4led pod. The opposite post has a dimple which fit right in the hole of the led base, I applied Emblem adhesive to this side. Cost was $5.00 and 2 dabs of Black ATV silicone & Adhesive.. 1 1/2hrs of my time.Couple cigars, several cups coffee, and scratchin my noggin!. Instead of wiring them to the headlight, I chose to place them on the switched lights for accent. Don't want to give any excuse to pull over for running blue lights on the front. Sorry for the quality of pics

We use them for parking lights when we're at the local Bike Nights:ohyea:. We have ran them on occassions in the city at night, so far no problems:clap:. They are toggled so quick shut off is possible. To be honest, I'm more worried about the HID lights getting me pulled over. They are extremely bright. To the point that oncoming traffic in the subdivision has almost come to a complete stop till I pass..

They are allowed to sell underbody neon kits to the public at like pep boys or stereo car shops because they have on the box, on the instructions or the acutal product * for off road use only * or not for street use etc somethign to that effect . Not that I EVER put underbody neons on anyones street car or bike before in my life ;P . Typically if you see just the single neon tube thats for inside the car it doesnt have the protection around the tube like the underbodys do. Most of the time if you have red/blue lights/LEDS on your car or bike as long as you are sitting at like a show/bike night most of the cops wont bother you just dont drive with them on ;P unless said cop is up for being a D**K.

Spydette wants me to etch the winshield, so before I jump on it with both feet, I decided to try out something smaller and less expensive to replace incase I :cus: it up. So the small wings seemed to be the place to try.. Here is the "WIP" air diverters, radiator vent cover, finally enough nerve to etch the windshield.

Decided to mount a flag pole on the Hitch...
Items used
#1 1" pvc conduit
#2 5/8" Conduit
#3 1/2" wedge Anchor + 1 extra nut washer
#4 Electrical Tape
#5 3" piece of 3/8 refrigerant insulation
40147
I inserted the wedge anchor into the 5/8 conduit and tightened the jamb nut. I then used the electrical tape and wrapped around the conduit to build a shoulder every 18". {10-12 wraps}. I then inserted the 5/8 conduit into the 1" pvc, using a rubber mallet since the fit was getting more restrictive as the shoulders were entering. I then placed the 3/8 insulation over the pvc and slid it to a place where a bungie could wrapped above it and would have downforce all the time. The bungie is hooked to the rear splashguard. I remove the ball from the hitch and use the extra nut and washer to fasten. Today was the 1st test ride. With the flag attached but rolled around the mast and tied in place. 80mph on the hwy N/P.. Flag unfurled and running 55mph N/P. We did a 30 mile escort for a marine who KIA 17 days before his tour was over.. 's for the family. I'll post better pics in my albums..

I don't know about everyone else, but I give up on trying to keep the black looking good:banghead:. Decided to take it to the next level and paint the pieces. Rattle Cans 800grit & good ole fashion Texas Sunlight..great for curing..43522. I tried the mudflaps last week to see how they would cure and hold out.. Spydettte decided since we were taking it back down to the bare-bones, we should install some rear speakers as well. It was easier taking all the parts off to paint, than it was to disassemble the speaker compartment. Their was close to a cup of screws in each box43523

Tired of hauling around extra weight. I took off the stock muffler. I cut off the tip of a roadking exhaust and attached to the Cat's. You can hear it but not see it. 200 miles no codes no backfires and just a wee-bit more volume on the radio. Really cleaned up the side and rearview of the Spyder. No more big bazooka hanging there interfering with the led lumination out from under the sidebox. 45874 4587545876

Wet sanded between each coat. 3 days and nothing but free time. 4587745878458794588045881.

50645I had to change yhe exhaust from the 1st application. We had enough backdraft to allow the exhaust fumes to be present. I took an old set of Harley rear cyclinder drag pipes and fabbed them to work on the Spyder. No exhaust fumes, no backfire, just a bit noisy. Ordered a baffle for the drag pipe. Now I get to create a new tip...

If your HID lights are adjusted right they should not bother oncoming drivers unless you have them on high.

I actually have them dropped in elevation just a bit. It only occurs when we ride 2 up. I keep the rear shock set ata softer setting. About 30 psi. If I want a hard firm ride, I'll jump on my bobber..
