Simple question. What term do you prefer, or what term to you think fits the situation best ??? I choose driving.

Those who chose "ride" should explain what ride means to them.

To me, driving means this...

Controlling every aspect of the bike (speed, shifting, steering, braking, cornering, traction, etc.) and having the ability to push the Spyder.

I ride my Spyder, it's a feeling, when I move the Spyder it returns the favor and moves me

I ride and drive our spyder. Sometimes I'm in control of the Spyder (driving) and johnnyg is in back and then other times I'm riding and johnnyg is in control. But before I got my license we both rode. When we are alone we ride.

I ride my Spyder - sometimes like a stallion I open it up , give it, its head and then hang on for dear life enjoying the thrill, especially the 30mph curves at 60 plus mph

Ride my bike. I ride for the enjoyment, the excitement, and feeling of being completely free from any and all confinements of any sort...

while at the same time, I'm still aware of all driving aspects that come with a motorized vehicle on the streets/roads/and byways. :D

I guess if you ride the Spyder in a static position you could classify that as driving. But if you use that style of riding, the Spyder will through you in the ditch on curves.

In the twisties I ride my Spyder the same way I ride my sled. I move around on the seat, just not as pronounced.

If you drive your horse, then I drive my Spyder.

When you ride a horse, you are on top and straddled over it but you still have control of how the horse handles and where it takes you. When you drive a horse, you are sitting in a cart, carriage or buggy. You still are controlling where the horse is taking you but you are not on top of the horse. All that being said, I RIDE MY SPYDER!!

I do like this explanation. Riding and driving can both be spiritual experiences, but I like how you put this Lamont.

Driving implies sitting in a vehicle and using a steering wheel to control -- like the term ride because I have a felling of freedom that I definitely don't get in a car.

You have not seen FLOGGED until you've seen Seth's ride (or drive). :yikes:

Well.. Lets just say that once upon a time...Ol'Wacky was rolling with Doc, Seth, RShrimp, and another Floridian in the smokies when on a four lane, Doc decided to demonstrate his turbo.

As we rolled north of triple digits I heard a sound pulling up along side me... It was Seth. Who was noted to say later "Dude, Never take it out of 4th". :lecturef_smilie:

At 250 pounds... My Spyder was flogged.

I get your point, but no. Riding isn't always for passengers.

If you are the one in control of the vehicle it goes like this. IMHO

Sit on = ride
Sit in = drive

Also,

Handle bars = ride
Steering wheel = drive

Here is another subject for debate.
Is that little silver thingy that makes the Spyder go an engine or a motor?

Doc goes fast, but he doesn't ride stupid. Tuck in behind him and ride and have fun.

I ride. Or, as we like to call it: "ryde".

Had a real nice ryde with hubby today. Not long enough in my book. Only 82 miles. Hubby said he had gone just about as far as he could have today without getting stiff. Guess it's a good thing I got the passenger peg extensions for him back there! A backrest too!!

Great weather today! I could have gone on all afternoon and into the evening! Oh, was this fun today!!!!!:ohyea:
