Looking for Info. on how different Spyder owners lock up their Spyders other than using the key when parked at night or any place other than home when on trips. Thanks for any suggestions.

No need...stop the bike, put on the parking brake, turn the handlebars and lock them one way or the other, and you're done...many leave the bike in first gear as well...that's a good idea too.

:spyder2: I use the lock that is there, turn the wheel either way and set the lock with the key.

I have the disc brake locks for both :spyder2:s. Turn handle bars toward the curb or the other :spyder2: and lock. Set foot brake and carry full coverage insurance total replacement. Good luck to the thief that can lift it and put in back of their truck or the side door of a van. Oh yeah, If Im near and see you, 44 mag is a great way to scare them. :roflblack:

Okay, now you have me thinking. I thought you could only lock the handle bars when turned to the left. I guess when I get offline I will have to check it out.

Okay, went and checked it out. Yes, you can lock it either direction. Funny all this time I thought it had to face the left side.

Yup- and then you'll have some serious damage to repair.

I leave the key in mine all the time (IPS) - just don't worry about it ----carry good insurance.

Thanks to Spyderwolf (http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/member.php?u=4301) for this picture. This is MY deterrent system (besides a 9mm). I actually have it on my "glovebox" (the sticker):roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

It's designed to lock either way so parallel parking on a hill can be done up or down hill. Turning the wheels toward the curb just in case it rolls.

Like other's have said, I just turn and lock my handlebars and leave it in gear. I do take my key out due to wear I work (or I would probably be trying to collect my insurance for sure) but I leave the key in at home. Haven't really worried about it too much.

+1 In our area, just locking the handlebars and taking out the key has been sufficient for the past three years. Flint, MI is a high crime area but I don't think it's high crime is necessarily in vehicle thefts.
