We've had some severe weather here in East TN and I haven't out much on the RT. Yesterday the morning started off with some heavy rain but around 11am it cleared up a bit and I decided to take the RT on a run to the post office before they closed at noon. It was such a nice day that when I got done there I was looking for an excuse to take a run somewhere else to enjoy the day. Before I could leave I got flagged down in the parking lot by a trucker that was looking at trikes but when he saw the commercials on the TV for the Spyder he knew he just had to check them out. This was the first one he had seen in person and I'm pretty sure when he goes to put his cash down it will be on a RT, he liked what he saw. :doorag:

So anyway I had some parts at my dealer in Elithabethan TN and that was only about 20 miles from the Snake (421) (http://www.421thesnake.com/) and I wanted to pick up a sticker to go with my Dragon (129) sticker. I got my parts at East TN ATV and they were getting a white limited ready to go out the door. They sold 5 Spyders that week.

The weather was still good so I headed to the Snake to see who was there and to take in a great road. If you've never been on 421 it's a great road and to me it's much better than the Dragon. There are more turns and better sweapers than the Dragon and most of the time there is a lot less traffic. When I got to the store I saw a site I had never seen before, there were no bikes at all and only one truck. I guess it was raining pretty good there just before I got there so there was no riders there. I got lucky and missed all the rain so I pretty much had the road to myself and the store to myself. I got my stickers and headed back home.

I tried out my latest mod on this 150 mile trip and all was well. Once again I was watching my fuel pretty close for the Guts and Glory trip and towing my trailer my fuel light came on at 135 miles and about 8 miles later I had zero bars on the gauge. When I got fuel I had gone 149.7 miles and put in 5.4 gal, that was 27.7 mpg and most of that was in some very strong wind so I'm pretty happy with that. :doorag:

The Snake sounds like a great ride. We heard a lot about it when we were in Johnson City for a BMW rally a couple of years ago, but never had a chance to ride it. I was with a riding friend who had ridden the Dragon with me earlier that week and I think he had had enough twisties for a while. But we still hit 555 in Ohio on the way home, which made up for missing the Snake at least a little.

421TheSnake is a drive of 33 miles, 489 curves, 3 mountains and 1 valley from Mountain City, TN to Bristol, TN or from Bristol to Mountain City. Sports car or motorcycle - both love the challenge of "The Snake".

You may want to mention it's all so one of the favorite hang outs for anyone with a ticket book. All paid for by grants from our Nanny (federal tax man). So be careful and watch your speed and they do have a lot of signs warning you of the speed limits.

I've had three tickets on the Dragon or going to the Dragon and none on the Snake so far but I have ran into a few. There were none this day.
