With all the problems I had with my 2008 Spyder the one thing that was constant was the MPG. I only had it a few days before I put the 2 brother’s exhaust on it. I road it for 18/19 thousand miles and always got between 31/36 MPG. For the most part it was 32/35. I put the stock exhaust back on it and still go the same mileage. The last 3 thousand miles were when I did the IBA SS & BBG rides with the stock exhaust. I averaged 67 MPH on the BBG (1500 miles in under 24 hours) and I got 33MPG on that ride.
2009 Spyder is hard pressed to get 25 MPG. I don’t ride any different; in fact if nothing else I ride a little slower. When I brought it home the first 2000 miles it only got 21/23. Had some adjustment made at the dealer while in for maintenance and the last 2000 23/25. At one point I thought it got 30 and on another 1000 mile trip I thought 33. My bookkeeper (wife) got a fill up I missed on the 1000 mile trip and it ended up 25 MPG.
If you average the Spyder lovers and Spyder talk polls it is safe to say that 50 % of the riders get 32/35. I am not talking about the RT riders. I am getting at least 75 miles to a tank less than I used to. I know it upsets a lot of you when someone speaks out about problems with the Spyder but BRP needs to address the wide margin in MPG discrepancy.

What shield are you running?

With my CHAD, HMF, Juice Box, O2 Mod and riding hard I almost always get 26 mpg - usually BETTER in the city as I think the CHAD kills the MPG on the freeway.

I've also heard that MPG increases once you get more miles on these-- but I cannot attest to that.

No easy answer for your poor PPG-- but plenty of places to look for tweaks and improvements.

Hi Firefly. I didn't take the windshield into consideration because I had the F1 slider on the 2008 and have the BRP tall touring windshield / with Robo bracket on the 2009. The way they fit they are pretty close to the same windshield. But I will try anything I hear about. I live in CA so Ethanol is all I can get here so I will be trying the Star Tron® Enzyme Fuel Treatment to see if that helps.
Take care and ryde safe

I have a 2009 w/hindle and the 22" madstat shield on a robobracket. I get mileage similar to yours, 26/28 at best. Same watered down fuel as well.

My wife has the BRP ultra touring on a robobracket, 2009 w/hindle... and consistently gets 1-3 mpg more than me. We both have similar riding styles.

:dontknow:

Maybe this summer I'll drop down to the stock windshield and see if mileage changes significantly.

Windshield makes a lot of difference. Also, tire pressure can make a bit of difference as well.

I think O2 mod kills the mpg as well.

Yes the u2 mod kills mpg but the throttle response is great!

I have the Chad, and even with both side and top Givis fully loaded and my 245 pounds, I got 38 MPG putting around at about 50mph for a few hours.

When I'm pushing 75Mph on the interstate I'm getting between 28 and 32. Mixed riding almost always nets me 32/33.

I think O2 mod kills the mpg as well.

Definitely, as it causes the ECM to push more fuel at all times to the engine.

Yes the u2 mod kills mpg but the throttle response is great!

:2thumbs: Well worth the trade off in my opinion.

I do know for a fact when I fill up with ethanol free gas I can go at least 25 miles further on the tank than when I fill up with ethanol mixed fuel.
