Mary and I are planning to go, and our schedule is flexable. But we will be making it a 2 day trip. Perhaps we will hook up with John & Carol as we have in the past. 4/26/11 Is that when you are leaving Ocala???? And where are you staying the first night out???
Hopefully we can get a Florida Express convoy.
I am getting excited about it.
Sorry we missed the ride to Mannys today, but we had a nice ride to Lake Mary with some 2 wheelers.

leaving from Fl the 27th, getting in on the 28th. We are trailering both bikes since we bought a new trailer for this sort of thing, yes we are wusses, but it would make it more enjoyable for us. We are staying at the Motel 6. We are leaving on the 1st and taking our sweet time getting home. May stop a day or so to do additional riding.

OK then---after talking with JohnnyGs RIO, I made reservations for Mary and I at the Motel 6 in Cuba starting Wed. April 27-30.
It appears that we will be leaving Florida on Tuesday morning April 26, and possibly stopping around the Birmingham area for the night. JohnnyG is planning the route and has not finalized it yet, but interstate is not the preffered route to Birmingham. We will have to stop around Atlanta and pick up at least 1 more RT couple (Richard & Tina) who also attended the SITS rally.
The motel reservations clerk was friendly and asked if we were with the spyder group--so she would give us the discount.
The number is different from the number posted by Johnny G as the motel has just changed from a Holliday Inn to the Motel 6. The new number is 573-885-0100
Make your reservations early and we look forward to seeing you all once again. C-YA RL and Mary

Florida Sane Ryders,
I just made reservations for the first night out (April 26, 2011) at the Days Inn listed below. $56.57, and it looks like it includes breakfast.
"Free full Hot Breakfast with stay, Micro/fridge and coffee maker in all rooms, Free High Speed Internet in all Guest Rooms, On-site Business Center, Pets allowed, On-site restaurant plus others nearby"
http://www.daysinn.com/DaysInn/control/Booking/property_info?propertyId=06090
Check it out to see if you might want to stay there.
I am trying to get a contact list together of those who want to ryde with this group. Just PM me with your E address so we can all stay in touch.
Merry Christmas C-YA RL and Mary

Moonchaser,
I think JohnnyG may not be traveling back right away when the spyderfest is over. If that is the case I will be returning via interstate on Sunday, and I was looking at stopping in the Murfreesboro area for the night. We may be able to adjust so you can see your family.
Plans are still being made and adjusted, so don't give up hope

Well well well !!!!!!!!!!

So we have a division of Fl ryders... Sane and Insane.

So we have to pick which bunch we ryde with.

Bah Hum Bug... I thought we were a togetherness group.

Oh Well, Save my buck and ryde straight thru. Looks like I will save, by not taking two days going and two day days returning, about 200 bucks, lodging and extra meals.. That will buy alot of fuel.
Of course some need their beauty sleep etc....:roflblack:

Since we all will be leaving about the same time we can still meet at Wildwood and along the route and those who stop for the night so be it, and those who wish to continue so be it.:roflblack:

I realize this is an old thread, but I'll be going too. Cindy won't be able to make it though. She is sure sorry that she can't, but has to bring home the bacon,

I'll be leaving Sanford on the 25th and heading up to the Live Oak/Madison area. (I-10). I sure would like to hook up with JohnnyG and any others (RL) that are heading that way.

I talked to John yesterday evenin and will meet at the intersection of SR53 and I-10 Tuesday (26th) morning.

My question is just who all is going to be riding with John and Carol? Is it just the three of us or are there others planning on going that route?

If anyone needs to contact me, I'm at 407-323-6392 = home or 407-444-5533 (cell) or email me at cray542464@aol.com

Anyone else notice that Spring hasn't fully come to Cuba? The low Temps on 4 or next ten nights are in the 30's and April 16th is forecast to be 35 degrees that night. I guess maybe sunscreen won't be as important for this trip.. and it will be nice not to melt.

I've been keeping a close eye on it too Hal. Although it's gonna be chilly (at least right now it is), I'm still gonna pack a couple pairs of shorts. I'll more than likely have my "Walfart sweat shirts" and jeans for regular wear.

Florida Sane ryders,
Slight change in the meeting location for Mary & I.
If possible I would like to change the meeting location to 1 exit further north on I-75 and SR 90.
There is a Cracker Barrel there where we are planning to have breakfast---but we will be ready to role whenever you get there. There is also a Wal-Mart Murphy just down the street, if you need to fuel up there---as we will do so we can be ready for a 100 mile run.
There is a traffic light to get back out onto 90 (and then I-75) at both Carcker Barrel and Wal-Mart so it will not be a problem leading the group through if you so decide.
We look are looking forward to seeing and ryding with you all REAL soon.
We are leaving for Ft. White (386-497-2729) this afternoon. C-YA RL

Hi Hal:

I'll be staying in Madison, Florida. It's a ways west of Live Oak just off I-10. I had planned on leaving Monday morning and working my way over to Chiefland where I was gonna visit an old law school buddy. I then was gonna go up to Ft. White and visit an old friend of mine that I've known for ages. Additionally, I believe that R.L. and Mary are presently up there in Fort White.

After that I was gonna take off for Madison and stay at a motel up in that area. John and Carol will be meeting me at the I-10 interchange there at Madison at the MacDonalds there around 8:00 A.M.ish. on Tuesday.

If you want to make some kind of arrangements, please don't hesitate to call. My phone number is 407-444-5533 (cell). You can also email me at cray542464@aol.com. Just let me know Hal.

R.L. I have a fairly decent idea about where you live. As I recall, I head out of Fort White as though I'm headed to Lake City. I will go by the school over on the right hand side. There's an intersection up the road a ways. I turn left there and go down a ways to where your place ultimately is. I believe there is a place that sells or rents tubes right there where I turn left. Anywho, I have your number and will give a call. I can't say for sure what time it will be. I'm just gonna play it by ear. Actually that's why I left Monday was so that I could just let my spyder take me where ever it wanted to.

Also some of the flooded area's when we got closer to Cuba. Just so you can see all the fun you missed. :roflblack::roflblack: But now that we are here in Cuba the weather is great. The other pics of Cuba wll be on the thread of pics of Cuba spyderfest. CJ

Mary and I were up early and went to breakfast as the motel 6 did not have anything but donuts and coffee.
Went to the car wash down the street to get most of the mudd off the rear and trailer before haeding to cowtown for the
Lots of spyders there including the 10+ new ones on the showroom floor.
Forrest got him a new 2011 RT Titainium and we met up with doc, wheeler, and blinc.
We went over and visited the vendor area, went to lunch at the Roadhouse on Rt 66, before heading back to the motel to polish the bike and trailer.
At 430 we headed to the Wagon Wheel for the chilling cook off, Bon fire, live music, and backward spyder race before heading back to the motel for the night.
Everyone was friendly and had fun.
There is a provided pancake breakfast in the morning, and then Mary and I are headed for St Louis to visit the Gateway Arch.

We had a wonderful day today with our mid-morning ryde to Cowtown for some socializing before lunch was served. We made many new spyder friends. The weather was windy, but the temps were comfortable.
There was some drag racing going on on the road in front of the dealership that was exciting and then they organized a 90 mile through the rolling hills where 89 spyders participated. The last leg was on the expressway where Mary and I were able to attain speeds in excess of 85 mph to catch up with the lead riders as we were running road guard duty along with several others.
After a brief stop at the Wagon Wheel motel we were escorted or should I say paraded through town with the assistance of the local police where we stopped at our final destination for dinner and the awards.
There was a band playing on the lawn, and after saying our goodbyes to our new friends, we returned to the motel to pack up.
We will be leaving out at 7am heading back toward Florida in the morning.
We will see you all soon. C-YA RL

I just had to share this. After ryding over 900 miles together this was at our last fuel stop Monday morning at Exit 2 in GA.
You can clearly see the pain and agony on our faces.
Glad to see that everybody else made it back safe and sound.
