Okay folks, easy solution here. My heat shield was about to fall off and I mentioned this when I was having other work done today...all they did was take out the rivets and put in new ones, a bit wider, it looks...now the shield is tight again and I hope it stays that way.

I'm not sure all dealerships have the rivets for this, but if you ask, they might be able to help you...it was a nice service they provided and now my heat shield isn't going to go anywhere for some time!

Unfortunately, this is only a temporary fix for the issue. I had an auto repair shop replace the rivets on my Hindle heat shields with larger ones to solve the rattle can issue as well. That was about 2500 miles ago, and now both of my shields are loose again. :gaah: I am going to have them fixed again, but eventually there will come a point where they can no longer be fixed, and I will most likely go with a different can.

Has anybody ever attempted to have this issue addressed under warranty? I haven't because ever since my dealer closed it is a 2 hour ryde to another dealer, and it is not worth the trip to be told no on it. :dontknow:

I tried the same fix but 2000 km later it was rattling again. Drilled out the holes a little and put small stainless bolts in with nylock nuts. Thought the heat might melt the nylon part but 6000 km later still holding up fine. I changed all of them while I was at it.

Warranty is as follows...I bought mine from Mosites Motorsports, so my dealer, because they didn't install it, won't go to bat for me...they would if I had bought it from them...with that being said, I think they only charged me 25 or 30 bucks for the new rivets...and I really did need them...the darn chattering from the heat shield was getting to be quite severe!

I would think that a good, solid screw and some sort of locking bolt mechanism would work...the nylon in typical lock bolts should melt, but hey, if some here are using this without issue, maybe this is a viable option...or, just get a new one...perhaps BRP can improve this issue if enough of us complain about it?

I have had mine done twice at 5k and 10k. My Dealer does it no charge.

Replacing rivets is a very simple thing to do. Might want to invest in a rivet gun and a few rivets and do it yourself. Most hardware stores carry these items.

Eh...for the few bucks every so often, I'm not concerned...I'd likely mess it up...I'm good with a drill and a screwdriver...a rivet gun...not so sure! :yikes:

Just wait till the rivets that actually hold the pipe together in the front blow out out on you......

My solution:

Comes with a stainless steel 90 welded on it.

Sounds GREAT --- but louder than Hindle for sure.

HMF will repack them for you for $35 when needed.....

I've got around 4,000 miles on this pipe now and really like it.

I've heard it...it really does sound cool! SpyderSteve just put one on his Spyder this past weekend after seeing yours at SITS.

So far, my Hindle has been flawless, but if it ever craps out like Firefly's did, I'll probably go the HMF route as well.

Is there anything loud like the hindle, but not louder? I think the stock is too soft and the hindle is just right...anything louder makes it annoying, to me...

Like Fire, I'll have to replace mine when I guess the ole rivet trick doesn't work...I guess I have a new lease on it though for a few thousand miles, so I hope!

For that matter, why don't they just improve the heat shield on the hindle to begin with? How hard can it be for them to do so that it lasts longer?

That sounds a lot better than what I paid for the Hindle, and I got a good deal on it when I bought it. :gaah:

I drilled mine out and replaced them with torc srews that match the ones on the plastics. Of course I had to put a bold on the backside of the heatshields
