I don't know anything about the kewl metal; but, I have 4 RAM mounts. There are many members here that use the RAM mounting system.

I use one of these .... simple, clean, solid and don't take up too much room. Made with stainless steel and brass. This pic got the rubber knob for the ram mount. Look for it on ebay ... all sorts of sizes and mount options from this guy.
