Well I was bored and went for a ride this afternoon and finally got feed up with the crummy sound from my bluetooth headset

Lots of road noise and distortion from
The little open port speakers

So I stopped by Best Buy to find some replacements.

I bought a J&M Bluetooth headset because it had the best looking speakers and they where connectorized so they would be easy to replace.

So after auditioning and measuring a few headsets here's what I came up with

These are the headsets I started with Dr Dre solo HD

http://beatsbydre.com/products/Products.aspx?pid=B5800&cat=1

They where the right size for the ear pockets in my shoei multitec helmet and the where sealed on the ear and sealed port speakers and they sounded great too a little pricey $229
But I ride every day and want good sound.

So I took them apart and put on the connectors from the cheesy speakers that came with my headset. I had to get out the dremal and remove some foam from the edges of the ear pocket but man was it worth it.

The sealed over the ear cups really cut down the road noise and make the bass response better

They don't sound as good over Bluetooth as they did wired but I knew that going in.

If you're handy with a soldering iron and a dremal tool I highly recommend this project if you want great helmet sound

Bluetooth never as good as wired...lose a lot of frequencies...your setup is nice...

Yeah the audio compression over Bluetooth is audible
I have some RFI noise with the J&M but haven't gotten around to sending it back. The audio amps on most of the motorcycle headsets can't really drive a good set of speakers either

I'm trying to get my hands on a HGU-84 helicopter helmet for my next brain pot. With those big ear cups I can put some rocking headphone drivers in it and get lots of noise attenuation. Those will definately be wired and maybe I'll do active noise reduction too. Man I need to get a social life:D

Got some seat time in with the helmet upgrade and man what a difference no more wind noise and exhaust . And the quality is great. Why didn't I do this sooner
