View Full Version : Another great time with a bunch of SpyderLovers

It's taking me some time to put my thoughts together on the BBQ at my place. First I would like to thank all the folks that helped and offered to help make this happen, there's no way I could do something like this without the help from my friends and fellow SpyderLovers.

I would also like to thank the vendors for their generous support this year. We gave out some really great door prizes and lots of them because of them. I do know I could have done a better job at handing them out and if I ever do this again I'll make it so you can pick whatever prize you want from a table. That was one thing I know I did of messed up. Sorry :opps:

The guys from Top Choice did a great job once again and the line moved much better than it did last year. Thanks for the great BBQ guys. :doorag:

This year was bigger and better than last year and everything seemed to fall in place. The weather was hot but at least it wasn't wet. We had somewhere around 140 Spyders parked in my front yard and fed right around 250 folks. The fellowship was great and a good time was had by all. You guys managed to get in and out without tearing up the place and there was plenty of help with the cleanup. Thanks again for that.

I'll let the pics tell the rest of the story and feel free to post anything you would like to add.

Butch and Carol provided the Lamonster BBQ t-shirts and helped with everyone getting their tickets for the door prizes along with BumbleBee.

Harvey with SpyderPops was busy all day and into the night installing his product on some folks Spyders. It was really hot and I don't know how he kept up but he did.

CAT patches were handed out as door prizes and some were already on members vest when they got there. They looked great. :doorag:

I took down a fence and built some benches for the BBQ. It was good to see them being used. :doorag:

There were so many Spyders in the front yard that it was hard to take a picture of all of them. I wish I had more time to look at them all but I was able to take these pics and the one video.

Nice photo summary. It really captures a lot of the event. Thanks once again for this marvelous get-together. I rode 600 miles for a sandwich and some conversation, and it was worth every bun-tingling mile!:thumbup::thumbup:

it was the first one I have been to and it was great, I am really glad I came down. Thanks again to lamont, you made it possible to have this many crazy people get together and have a good time. I would have liked some offroad racing BUT you can't have it all.

Your the man lamont.

:yikes:

On our way back across The Dragon there was a Harley on its side facing down the mountain and they were trying to pick it back up. If it would have slid another couple of feet it would have went over the cliff, and most likely been unrecoverable. Pure excitement indeed.

Just got back yesterday and had a great time! Lamonsters BBQ was the highllight of the trip! It was great to meet and talk to so many people that I have only been able to chat with online. Other highlights were meeting Angie and Molly ( I really enjoyed that root beer Sunday night) and all the Spyderlovers that would meet at Smokys at night. :chat:
I am glad I always walked to the motel afterwards!

Thanks Lamont for hosting such a great time!

+I enjoyed a vacation to the 2010 Spyders in the Smokies (SITS) gathering in Gatlinburg, TN and Great Smoky Mountains National Park last week. The weather was fantastic Monday through Saturday, but Sunday was a ride-home soaker.

I left Monday morning, and captured some Scavenger Hunt points enroute. Here's a map of my general route. (Not exact.)
http://www.roadkillonline.net/imagedb_images/35_10384.JPG

Day 1 was 805 miles, with an overnight with my brother's family in (#9) Denver, NC.
Day 2 was 576 miles, with an expensive Georgia State Park tent site outside of (#17) Chester, GA. ($30 to sleep on their precious earth!)
Day 3 was 407 miles, arriving at my (#20) Gatlinburg, TN hotel room for a 4-night stay.

(#2n +50) Chester, New Jersey

(#2o +50) Chester, Maryland

(#2p +50) Chester, Virginia

(#2q +50) Chester, South Carolina
http://www.roadkillonline.net/imagedb_images/35_10380.JPG

(#2r +50) Chester, Florida
Forrest L. Evatt (83) and his younger brother Fred shared that their grandfather was a U.S. Marshal in the area (late 1800s), but was denied postmaster status because he couldn't hold two federal positions; thus, their grandmother "Lou" Evatt became the first female postmaster in the nation. Chester, Florida is buried so far in the boondocks, that Forrest told me to share with the rest of the world that "I'd reached the end of it".

(#2s +50) Chester, Georgia
http://www.roadkillonline.net/imagedb_images/35_10382.JPG

During my visit to the Gatlinburg area, I added another 625 enjoyable miles, including two loops of the Tail of the Dragon (one with a souvenir), Deal's Gap, and a ride up 14-mile one-way very-primitive seasonal Parson Branch dirt road.

Day 7's ride back home was 797 miles (the first 400 miles in pouring rain), for an overall trip distance of 3210 miles.

Ride on.

ThreeFeet here and that RT is mine and if I had known that Mr and Mrs Cowtown had trailered it down just for me I would have KILLED somebody to get info on WHERE YOU LIVE... As it was G MAN was out looking for me and so he missed meeting your wife. My appologies to him. I am SOOOOO sorry I didn't get there. I had been on the SE5 since 0930 and with a few stops was on it till I ran out of patience, time( it was after 5 or 6 when I got back to Smokies), willingness to keep going or what ever I just couldn''t go any further. I had raced to Greenville ( no tickets tho Thank God was doing 75 in a 40 I think) only to get messed up about WHERE IS 11E!!!!! Think I finally found it and between the heat, tired butt, and total anger at ME for trying to do so much in one day that I pooped out called G MAN and said I coulden't get there. Seems he was up on 81 and I was in Greenville. I didn't think I was gona make it back to Gatlinburg. I don't think I had ever been that tired except when In Army on moving a whole hospital from one spot to another. My appologies to Lamont for not getting there. But mostly my appologies to G MAN and Mr and Mrs Cowtown for not being there to see my bike for the first time. I have it home now it has the hitch on and I am ready to travel!!!! Thanks to Cowtown CREW!!! Love ya'll. :2thumbs::firstplace: Cowtown folks are THE ONES!!!!:firstplace::firstplace:
