A big THANKS goes out to lamont for hosting another great event. The weather was warm, the food was tasty and the Spyderlovers were friendly. Thank goodness there was plenty of cold drinks! Also thanks to all of the sponsors that contributed door prizes. Here are a few pics to remember this day.

A special thanks to Lamonte and his wife Chris and all of the helpers and the sponsers who donated the great gifts. As always Lamonte does everything 1st class and well organized. The food was fantastic and plenty for everyone. Best turnout so far and I got to see every inovation that is out there for the Spyder. A special thumbs up for the classy IPS key holder that Lamonte designed, hope everyone took advantage of this new product, it really looks cool on the Spyder and you would never know it was the key:2thumbs:

This was my first trip on my Spyder. It could not have gone any better. Met lots of good members for fellowship. I made a point to meet those that contribute so much to us new members and Spyder owners.
The weather was nice and clear but really HOT. The BBQ was excellent.
I even won one of the prizes! Lucky me.
Loved it all with one day to go. Then heading home on Sunday, in the rain I'm afraid. Suppose to rain here and all of GA also. Cleaning the bike will be in order when I get back.

Glad everyone had a good time! Sorry we missed it this year - work got in the way :(. I just wanna say that TN is one of the most prettiest states I've ever been in and yes, the roads are incredible, towns and people are cool! Wish our company would make a facility in TN or VT! Two of my favorite places! Cherohala Skyway was the most gorgeous place I've ever been.

Wow, Good for you.
I don't see anyone over here beating up lamonts barbeque , why do you have to rain on Spydertalks parade. When Spyders in the Smokies was originally set up by Billy Bob after a ton of expense and thought process and collaborating with Spydertalk to make it a world class event, it ended up a class act and still is. Lamonts decision to have a barbeque the same week was smart from a business perspective I suppose. Is there competition between businesses yep? (and these forums ARE businesses ...yup Lets be real folks , both these forums are profit driven through their advertisers and these men have invested their time and efforts into their businesses , which is what it is, no more no less.)
Since the area of the country is a magnet for Spyders and riding , Perhaps a barbecue at Lamonts in the spring would would be a good idea and not create friction and let the Spydertalk event be on its own in the fall ... :2thumbs: but looks like the events can co-exist. Looking at the group picture over on Spydertalk, there was a crap load of SITS attendees, so your comments above that people wouldnt wanna get gass(sy) over at Bush Beans does'nt hold much weight..:roflblack:
Lamont puts alot of work into the barbeque and deserves credit , Marc at Sydertalk put months of solid work into his multi-day , multi location event.
Maybe more people come the the barbeque because SITS gets bigger each year. Maybe SITS gets bigger cuz of the barbeque. By all accounts the SITS event was the largest and best there has ever been this year and by all accounts The Barbeque was a great one too. Perhaps it could be left at that instead of throwin shots. :chill:

Wow bro--- you're sure reading a LOT into what I've said.

I said that I (not anyone else) wasn't interested in the 'bean tour'. I personally think it's a bit silly to do such a tour and be inside when you could be out RYDING.

As far as me 'raining' on their event--- um--- no--- I didn't -- but I do know that MANY come to SITS because of Lamont's BBQ.

As far as pitting one 'group' against another --- I guess you missed Billy Bob's off the wall rant against Lamont and his BBQ over on their site.

We all had fun at various events, some went to 'official' SITS things, others did not and only went to Lamont's and did whatever they wanted the rest of the time. We organized SMALL group rydes of 4-6 Spyders as most of us didn't care for the 'official' big group rides that were put on last year. I'm not sure what the official events were this year other than the bean tour, bbq and the dinner.

Marc told me at a gas station that they ditched the big rydes this year because many felt as I did. He invited me to the bean tour and I told him we had planned a ryde for the day. He also invited me to the dinner, we ended up at the Smokey's event that night as they split things up between the two places. He didn't cop any attitude for my lack of 'official' participation--- not sure why you feel the need to.

I have no problem with the official SITS stuff, just thought the bean tour was silly. I don't recall seeing Marc or Billy at Lamont's......

I personally didn't register because I wanted to play the week loose without a schedule to adhere to. If they had had their BBQ on Friday like last year, I would have gone to that. We had to leave for home on Saturday.

Peace out.:2thumbs:

I've also gone to mcdonalds and wendy's on the same day and enjoyed them both

I think next year we should pick a campground and take it over instead of hotdogs pool side at the RRI

Really man, it's all good. We don't need any B.S. here. Goes against the spirit of good idea sharing and kinship. If I could, I'd do both events. That sounds like a good idea to me and if you want to guess why I have my BBQ when I do or what my motives are why not ask me? I'll be glad to tell you in private or public.

Last year I had a front page ad to SITS and the BBQ and this year the only promotion I had was one post that had over 8,000 hits. The only other post I had were the ones that gave thanks to the vendors here that kicked in. As of right now the BBQ was a net loss for me but that's fine. I had a good time putting it on and folks seemed to have a good time coming to it. Chances are I'll skip next years BBQ, not because it was too much work or too much expense but because I don't need guys like you judging my motives.

This was my first spyder event. Thanks Lamont! My wife and I had a good time..and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Thanks again..we will return if ya ever have another.

FIRST....a HUGE thanks to Lamont for another great BBQ!! While the food was terrific it was incidental to the fellowship of over 100 Spyder Lovers getting to interact for a few hours together. Whether or not I participate in future SITS events, I will; ALWAYS make the BBQ!

I don't consider the week to be a competition between two forums. I view them as being complementary with each having something different to offer and a chance to meet different people with the same interest...SPYDERS.

Personally, I am less interested in the scheduled tours/rides than I am in the gatherings of fellow riders. That is the ONLY reason I attend.

I had done the Dragon last year and had no desire to do it again. I had more fun riding with a small group on three different rides:

Smoky Mountain Parkway to Cherokee NC
Smoky Mountain Parkway and Blue Ridge Parkway to Maggie Valley
Route 209 from Hot Springs NC to Maggie Valley NC

Next year I will likely look for more roads. Carl (Smoky's Sports Pub owner) has a lot of great suggestions. Tim (tajohn) and Annemarie said they had a great ride doing the escorted Cades Cove ride looking for elk and bear.

Already looking forward to next year!

We have not missed one yet and I was really sick this year and had to lay in the back of a SUV to get there, but the fellowship, food and seeing all the new tricks for the Spyder made it worth it. The way I look at it, we would have already sold our Spyder if it had not been for Lamonte's inventions to make the Spyder more comfortable and fun to ride and his web site has kept me informed of any potential problems and how to cure them.Got a T-Shirt and won 2 nice gifts, got one of Lamonte's IPS key holders and love it.Lamonte is there for you, if you can not get him on the web site, you can reach him by his office phone or his cell phone, all of this makes me loyal to a true friend and to someone that is responsible for most of us being able to keep our Spyders running and fun to ride, I have nothing against SITS, just have more good reasons to go to lamonte's BBQ and will be there every year as long as I can get there.:congrats:

wow i am posting over here . but i want you all to know that widowmakers comment is dead on . things i lost focus on . when i came up with the idea of spyders in the smokies . oct 20 2007 . it was for the owners by the owners , i wanted just a big party , and to see all the smiles . wow 3 yrs later it has grown out of proportion . my little party which i hoped 25 folks would come to has changed . and brad is right , spydertalk is a buisness and spyderlovers is a buisness , and i lost focus, or never thought of it that way , but also i did , i have nothing against lamont personaly its all buisness , and the event has become that for both parties . i have no web site, promote no stuff , have no sponsers , did it on my own for all of you . now i have made a conciouse desicion to step away from it all . and let these two factions take it where they want to , and i hope we can all get along and make this the worlds largest brp event . please all remember the motto from the start . for the owners by the owners !!!

take care all and have fun

Sorry you're catching such silly guff over some personal comments I made that were taken way outta context.

Maybe next year us Spyderlovers can organize a user-run BBQ in TN since we all love the great rydes down there--- and maybe we'll do it at a different time than SITS so as not to have this kind of problem. There are plenty of great park areas we could do it at too.

The whole week was great - regardless of what level of participation we all decided to have.:2thumbs:

Yeah, thanks dude! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! :roflblack: :roflblack: Sorry man, I just had to lift the tension just a tad!

Look y'all, this is crazy talk. Now I have not been to either one of these events (As I mentioned earlier I am an IT slave and am lucky to have time to even do the slight rides that I do!) But when I start hearing the word "factions" that gets my furr up.

We are ALL people who have decided to invest in a new way to ride. We have done so on a new kind of bike platform that's not like any other. We are all in this thing together. There are no factions here - we are all Spyder Ryders! :spyder:

I see these 2 events as completely complimentary to each other - why wouldn't they be? Why is this notion of competition being raised? It's silly. These two events give us riders the oppurtunity to get together and have a blast doing many different and fun things in various beautiful settings. But most of all it gives us the oppurtunuty to get together - Show off our Spyders - tell fish stories - and share a special kind of kinship that no other group shares. Let's not lose focus on that.

I'll get off my soap box now, but that's the way I see it. Lamont. I hope you do another great BBQ, and I hope SITS has an even better turnout next year. And in a perfect world, I'll actually have the time to be there!

Very well said Raptor. My wife and I attended some of the events for SitS and I made it to Lmaont's BBQ as well. There is no reason the 2 events cannot coincide with each other. It was also my understanding that Mark left Thursday afternoon open on the schedule so those who wanted to could attend Lamont's BBQ without feeling any pressure about it.

To be honest with you, the only time I have ever been to the SpyderTalk site was to register for SitS this year. I don't have anything against that site, or the fellow Spyder Ryders on it, I just happened to find this one first and liked it enough to not look any further.

I certainly hope the few negative comments do not keep Lamont from having a BBQ next year, as it was definitely one of the highlights of my week.

Saturday's event may have been another highlight, but we needed to leave at 11:30 am before any of the real festivities started, so I have no idea how that went. :dontknow:

I concur with WIDOWMAKER2011 on a few points, or at least the intent. SITS continues to be a great event, as do other Spyder events. Lamont’s BBQ continues to be a great event. I had a great time reconnecting with Spyder enthusiasts from all walks. Thanks go out to Mark and Lamont for hosting the fantastic events, and for possessing the insightfulness to work together toward the common interest. My organization has, as part of its pledge, "members who share a common interest". Spyder owners share a common interest, regardless of whose house they're in. I had a great time, and walking or riding around, I couldn't tell a "SpyderTalker" from a "SpyderLover" (with the exception of those I personally know). I don't even ride one and I am continually amazed at not only the riders but their machines as well. What a great bunch of people.

Can't we all just get along?:doorag:

See you at Spyder Fest U.S., Missouri Rendezvous, Cuba, MO April 28-May 1 2011.

Lamont;
Thanks for showing us around your property, and having us at your home. Not many would do that for so many people. I know (I think) how much work you put into preparations. My only regret is that while I was out trying to hunt down a lost Spyder Ryder, I missed the oportunity to meet your lovely wife Chris. BumbleBee tells me she's a sweetheart. Looking forward to other gatherings. Hope to see you again soon.:doorag:

Hey Folks, Marc from SpyderTalk here. I just wanted to jump in and say with all the talk back and forth about SpyderTalk, SpyderLovers, SITS and Lamont's BBQ...all is cool with me and Lamont.

I bought Lamont a BBQ last Saturday and he brought prizes for our SITS award ceremony. We all ride Spyder's because they are fun and we all get together at these events because we like hanging with other Spyder owners.

We are one big Spyder community

Ride Safe,

Marc

THANK YOU Marc!:doorag:
welcome ;)
