Day 2 of my first ride from Atlanta to my Minnesota home a fellow came up at a gas stop to talk about the spyder. He said he had one at home. I proceeded to ask him some questions. Questions that were not covered by the previous owner. Jim Smith answered all my questions and provide some good advice. Then he checked the drive belt tension and said 'way to tight' He then called Leer's cycle in Waterloo IA and arranged for me to stop there and have them make the adjustment. He gave me excellent directions and in about 1.5 hours I arrived and my spyder was immediately taken into the shop. They spent about 1 hour with updates and adjustments. This was a great experience. I want to thank Jim for his help. Mike McC:2thumbs:

That's a great story. I love the sense of community that you spyder owners have. I can't wait to join.
The story does bring to light one of my fears, What would gave happened without that trip to get serviced? I guess no matter what happens, if I buy used, I had better plan on taking it to the shop to get checked out.

Belt tension is criticle for long term dependibility. Short term, probably not so big a deal.

There are a lot of SpyderLovers scattered all over this country. If you can get to the Internet and put something up here, there is a good chance someone local can give you a hand.

Don't know about other rides but the community spirit here is unbelieveable.

Speaking of community spirit....Anyone got a few K they can loan? :roflblack:
