well I have seen you guys complain a lot about your legs getting hot and wrapping the exhaust. As a parapligic rider up in Canada I thought you guys where a bunch of babys and just wanted to find something to tinker with.:roflblack:

Yesterday I was out on a plus 30c day, I'm still learning to ride all over again so I do a lot of in town riding so the stop and go traffic doesn't help. I was just wearing jeans and my fancy dancy velco runners that hold my feet to the floorboard. Jumped into the wheelchair and noticed my legs where real hot, jumped into bed for further inspection and my right leg had a fair sized blizter on it!!:gaah: Being in a chair any kinda cut or blizter ins't good cause it takes so long to heal and if it's infected it's twice as bad.

I see guys on here get bashed for making fun of the bike or problems they have had. But for real? when they where testing these things don't they notice these things and try to fix it? I know parapligic riders arn't the main focus of BRP but I don't know how you boys do it in the southern states, my hats off to ya.

Just had to vent, just wish BRP could read this.. off to buy some wrap..

How many miles on your:spyder2:? Check your Y gaskets. The :spyder2: is notorious for right side heat and it's even worse if your Y gaskets are gone. Here is a pic of mine when I changed them out...notice no gasket at all and the heat had gotten unbearable.

I got heat on the left side also, just not as pronounced as the right side. My Y gasket on the left side was not in bad shape at all when I changed them out. Oh yeah we got a cold front in today also.....rain.:gaah:

Normally, the right side Y gasket will burn away first, as that header pipe is much shorter and the gasket is subject to higher temps. That pipe is very short, and doesn't give off too much heat if the Y gaskets are good. The left header pipe is a long run from the front cylinder, and provides a much larger heating area under the tupperware.

BRP has been authorizing warranty replacement of the Y gaskets if they fail prematurely. I think the limit is 12,000 miles, but am not 100% sure on that.

Wrapping the header makes does make a big difference, and is well worth the effort in my opinion. I have actually been able to touch my left header pipe, with the back of my hand, while the Spyder is running on at least 4 bars without it causing a burn. Granted I did not hold it there for very long, but just the fact I can touch the pipe says a lot.

Dewie, you definitely need to be careful with the heat and never ryde in shorts. Another thing is do not ryde without the tupperware on your Spyder. You can look up a thread by SethO to see how badly he was burned when doing so. I hope the blister is not too bad, and that you heal quickly from it. I don't know how many miles you have on your Spyder, but if the heat was enough to blister you I would definitely have the Y gaskets checked.

If you takeoff the right and left plastic catch pans the heat dissipates much better!!:D

thanks for the good info fellers. It only has 1600k on it.. when we switched to a two brothers exhaust the gasket looked fine but I'll double check when we wrap it.. thanks..

See this post.

We did similar, tho used plastic rather than cardboard. Not only cooler, but saved the day when the fan relay crapped on a trip, keeping engine temp to 3 bars.

Nope. I have worse left side heat than right. And it's pretty bad. My dealer wrapped my left side pipe but it didn't seem to make much difference.

Not sure what to do with it now.

I did the Spyderpops system and it truly helps with the hot air issue, but NOT with the hot panel issue. You STILL have to put something like Thermo-Tek on the back of the panels.

maybe you missed this post, I had one other one as well about how I got burns on my right foot before I got ISCI floorboards. I know you think canada is so far north but come on buddy, MN is just as great white north as the land of socialism and alcoholism (this a movie quote from blackballed so don't get too offended)

here is the info on mine.
