I hope I have placed this in the correct forum. I tell my friends to "please ride 'em safely". And I have told my son-n-law the same thing many times. No matter how safe we try to be there is always someone out there not paying attention. My son-n-law was riding home from work about 6 pm yesterday on the interstate near Burleson/Dallas/Fort Worth and was broad sided by someone changing lanes without looking first... seems the cell phone was more important than a human life. Any way he is in the trauma center there with many broken bones and a bleeder in the left side of his brain. Prognosis at this time unknown. Please help me pray for him, his wife, my daughter and is two children Katie 9 and Sean 6. Thanks for all prayers and please know they are appreciated and once again "please ride 'em safely". This has been one tough day for our family. Ken krb1945

The prayers are worth it, my near death experience on 2 wheels is one year ago this weekend(Aug 8th). God really escorted me through that and worked with me every day keeping me inspired to excecise my brain out of the hematoma and contusion along with all the physical trauma. People at work are still a little shocked between my condition after accident and now. This 40yr old is going on 18.

I'm sorry to hear this .... Best wishes to your Son-in-Law and Family.

I hate to see people driving while on the cell phone.
California passed the law forcing hands free devices while driving, but it has had no effect as far as I can tell. I often see people with the ear piece in their ear and then they are holding the microphone or sometimes even the phone up to their mouth....NO call is worth someones life!

Adding my prayers to those already sent. I've had several close calls because people's cell phone calls were more important than driving and the safety of everyone around them.

CT passed the law a while back - nobody adheres to it. I don't talk on my cell while driving but many do and they also text while driving! What the F is so important where you can't arrive at your destination and call them back???!!!

He goes by initials "WA". I just received an update and there are no changes in his condition. The trauma surgeon said he is resting comfortably and they are evaluating whether or not they are going to operate to control the bleeder. MY "better half" is flying out in the morning so she can help our daughter with the grandchildren. I'm staying on the home front to take care of everything here in Florida unless the situation warrants that I need to go. Naturally the children, being so young, don't understand what is going on and they are frightened.

AMTJIM thank you for telling me about your accident. It gives me hope that many survive brain injuries. This young man is like the son I never had... and I am worried.

My heartfelt thanks to each of you for your prayers and I will post updates as I get them. Ken krb1945

hopefully everything will work out for the best, Believe me brain injuries are a pain and are hard for doctors to read, they take time and are one strange thing to deal with the first time. People in cars are the worst for things like this. Post up if you need anything, people on here want to help.

I noticed this morning some seem to be blaming the authorities for not stopping this problem where there are laws on the books making it illegal. Please do not blame them because they cannot be everywhere and do not see everything illegal that is happening. I see this problem in many places myself but I also realize I do not see every one that violates the laws. Remember we are many and they are few. That is the reason they ask for our help via the media many times.

The Fort Worth Officer that is investigating this accident deserves many thanks because he is and has been going beyond the call of duty to help our family. The men and women that patrol our streets and cities have my heartfelt appreciation and thanks. They are doing a job that I know I would not want to do.

I will post an update later this morning if I receive new information. Again I and my family thank you for your prayers, support and the hope you are giving us. Ken krb1945

Just received an up date. My daughter told me the doctor said WA will remain in ICU for at least the next 24 hours. He is awake, responsive, remembers events before the accident and remembers waking up in the ambulance. They said he is stable and comfortable... their words. We all know he isn't really comfortable. No one is comfortable after being tumbled down the interstate. The surgeon said they are still evaluating the left side brain bleed. The last CT scan indicated it is not getting any larger... I guess that means the clot is still the same size.

Grandmother is arriving as I write this.... she will be caring for the grandchildren. As it stands now we probably won't know anymore until tomorrow. I, and my family, thank you all for your prayers and encouragement. Please ride 'em safely. Ken krb1945

All you good folks I know are sitting on the right hand of God because all our prayers have been answered. WA was released from the hospital yesterday. They did another CT scan yesterday morning and the clot is no larger. He will get another scan next week to check it again. The doctor said since he did not have any seizures during he stay he could go home.

He is resting uncomfortably at home. I say it that way because I just talked with him a minute and the road rash, broken ribs, clavicle and the bang on the head are keeping him from sleeping or resting. I told him about all those praying for him and he said to tell you all thank you for the prayers and words of encouragement.

From our family to yours you have our heartfelt thanks for the prayers and words of encouragement. Ken, WA and our families. krb1945
