I submitted my order form today for a Russell Day Long. I'm upgrading from the BRP Comfort seat. I'm looking forward to getting this new seat. I've sit on a few Corbins and while I have nothing against them. I decided I don't have a Corbin butt. I'll really get to try it out on my trip to Gatlinburg.

Keep us posted as to if you like it and how well. I know it has saved Brian and me for many miles. Couldn't have taken the trips we have without our Russells. I highly recommend them to anyone.

I have had my Russell for 2 summers now and have loved it! I've had no discomfort at all since getting it. I hope you enjoy it as much.

:2thumbs: I did almost 6K on mine with Irish on the trip of a lifetime. I could not have done it on the stock seat. Love it.

The Russell came in yesterday after I left for work. So when I got home this morning I installed it. As soon as I got finished with the install the rain started. I decide to grab a few hrs sleep because got to work tonight. I thought I get a little ryde in before work....guess what more rain :gaah:

I started the process on July 7th with online ordering. I got a production date of Aug 2th. RCP finished it up and shipped out on Aug 13th. Six weeks from start to getting it back for me. I guess it depends on how busy they are.

Deb,
I really like it just sitting on it, but I have yet to get to ryde it. The rain and my work schedule has prevented me from getting a ryde in. I've looked at the weather tonight (I'm on the boat working till 5 AM) it suppose to nice. I'm going to do about 80 miles to Pensacola and back in the morning, so I'll really get to check it out. :2excited:

I, for one, am waiting to hear about your 1st ride. I'm on the verge of ordering one for myself to upgrade from the Comfort seat just like you. On my previous GW trike I had a Diamond seat and it was great! The Day Long looks a lot like that.

According to Russell it takes between 500 -1000 miles for break in. So I don't know how accurate one 80 mile ryde would be. But I'm anxious to get back in the saddle.

:dontknow: I don't recall any break in time on my Russell seat. It was comfortable from the first mile.

Lessee now, break in? Okay, it just keeps getting better, is that break in?
I've got around 10K on my Russell, only complaint is I didn't get it sooner.

Just got back from my 80 mile ryde (actually 79) It was great. The last time I was on the Comfort seat I only went about 40 miles before it started to get uncomfortable. This seat is so different. I also love the backrest. It was really comfortable from the start. I LIKE IT!

This is the quote from Russell on the paperwork they sent.
"BREAK IN...Your Day-Long" Touring Saddle will require a short break-in-period usually 500 to 1000 miles." ......... etc.

Enjoy your Russel! I've had a number of Corbins and NONE of them felt good until after a few weeks of conforming to my butt. Never try someone else's Corbin unless it belongs to your identical twin!

I plan on going all vinyl (passenger and driver). Any draw backs to all vinyl?

Thanks

We have put about 3000 miles on our Russell with backrest, no breaking in, great from the get go, the backrest is worth every penny,no pressure on the tail bone thus your butt does not go numb, expensive but your comfort or lack of comfort is priceless.:2thumbs:

While attending a hockey game, I made the comment that these new seats seem smaller than last year. My smart :cus: brother said the seat isn't smaller, your BUTT got Bigger.:yikes::D

IMHO I believe leather is a better surface especially for the long haul. It's breathes better and therefore is cooler. You can always go with a leather top and vinyl sides. :D

That is what I did.
